Jane was so welcoming and friendly, and had some great recommendations of where to go for food. The room was beautiful, spotlessly clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was great too. Couldn't really ask for more!

I've been coming here for 60 years to visit family. There's so much to do, the market is fun. Good beaches and family friendly attractions nearby, but you do need a car for a lot of them. Walk or cycle the Tarka trail with bike hire from the railway station.

The town has a number of independent cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs. Also an independent cinema and theatre, and lots of local scenic walks. There’s a local museum, old churches, and independent shops to explore. It’s an easy distance by bus or car to the north Devon coast.

I love North Devon in general. Beaches, scenery and people. Can’t comment on Barnstaple as I don’t tend to go into large towns but they used to have a great indoor market(if it’s still going after Covid?)

A nice, but average small town.
A nice, but average small town. Not the town, but the people here impressed us, in terms of politeness and willingness. Their courtesy and the trips we made to rural and coastal areas provided us an overall pleasant stay.

Found it good as a base as it was pretty central so not too far to visit places such as Ilfracombe, Instow, Bideford, Woolacombe. Had a great time at the wildlife and dinosaur park. We love gardens and visited RHS Rosemoor, Taderley Park and Marwood

A charming little town in a beautiful setting.
A charming little town in a beautiful setting.
Its central location makes it ideal for transport to the rest of Devon. I had a great time in the town and other interesting sites.
It is recommended to bring warm clothing if the weather is windy.

We booked here as my granddaughter was getting married in Barnstaple and were having s small reception in the hotel.
The hotel was even better than we could have hoped for in every way. The whole hotel was a great experience from the staff to decor to quality if the room. In fact the bathroom was so clean and smart it looked like it had never been used.
As a reception venue it was perfect with staff that were attentive and very helpful.
From reception to room. The whole experience was relaxed and comfortable. So many hotel rooms are cold and sterile. The Cedars is very clean and so comfortable. I could definitely relax and was so comfortable. I easily recommend over all the usual places like Travelodge, Premier Inn etc.. 100% better value. It was a real treat.
Thank you to all the staff.
Very convenient position. I traveled by train and the hotel is quite near the railway station and bus station and nicely situated for looking round Barnstaple.
