Stayed over the Christmas period to be close to the family. Checked in on-line, a bonus. Found my room with key waiting for me. Room immaculate, warm, and coffee and tea making facilities. Just as I wanted it to be.

I was working out of town.

I was working out of town. I chose this place as it’s 20m from Grimsby and so should be alright. I was correct. I was so happy to leave Grimsby and even more delighted when I drove into the village and there were Christmas trees lighting my way from the gardens. Warning. While I didn’t see it, I hear police take license plate numbers of those parked at the pub and pull them at the end of the road. So no drink driving

Sometimes b and b are the best places as they have the hands on experience...not all pubs with staycation type facilities get what we the traveller are looking for.....its not just a bed! Good for motorway access and humberside airport and gateway to Lincolnshire.....

I didnt really visit the Village, but the Railway Station is a good 5-10 minute walk. There are a few good footpaths to explore. The Long Distance footpath "Viking Way" runs through the village, but is not signposted.

    Loved the countryside strolls.

Loved the countryside strolls. Really enjoyed trying clay pigeon shooting at Nettleton Shooting Range. Took advantage of the local Chinese Restaurant and Indian Restaurant. Need a car to get around and confidence to drive the country lanes.

Perfect hotel to stay in in you are doing the Viking Way as it is on route, it is also 20 yards from the railway station. The hotel is the only pub in the village, and the staff are really friendly. The rooms are in what looks like old cottages at the side of the pub, so are nice and quite.

Not a lot to see and do here but a good base for exploring further afield. The nearby One Stop has good value food. There's a train station that may suit some travellers. The nearest attraction is Elsham Hall and Country Park but it's not good value for the entrance fee. I would not recommend visiting Gainsthorpe Medieval Village either. However, Brigg is a nice market town and the Humber Bridge is nearby. Lovely beaches a little further afield.
