Palé Hall, hotel in Bala

On the edge of Snowdonia National Park, Palé Hall 5 red star Relais Chateaux property set in a Victorian manor house hotel with 18 elegant rooms in the main building and 4 garden suites.

We have stayed at Pale Hall many times before, but now under new ownership the attention to detail of how they look after you is second to none, which surprised us because it was excellent before. The food is to die for, one of the best Sunday lunches we have ever had.

Lake View Farmhouse Escape, hotel in Bala

Featuring a sauna, Lake View Farmhouse Escape is set in Bala. Located 24 km from Lake Vyrnwy, the property provides a garden and free private parking.

This property was beautiful and the views out the windows were stunning. We had a very comfortable 2 nights in the property. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of glasses, plates and cooking utensils and a large range oven, making preparing food very easy. There is 2 indoor fireplaces which the host provided kindling logs and firefighters for which was a really nice touch. The sauna was also wood fired which was very easy to set up and enjoy. There were 5 double bedrooms with comfortable beds and a washer and dryer in the property which were handy. Lisa and her family were incredibly responsive and helpful. It snowed when we were there and we were worried about struggling to get back home due to conditions, Lisa’s dad came to the property who has farmed the land and eased our concerns. He even took us onto the farm to meet the animals which was a really nice touch. The town of Bala was located a 20 minute drive away which was a nice walk around with plenty of amenities. We spent most of our time here sat around the large dining table relaxing and taking in the views of the Welsh mountains. We would love to revisit in the summer as I can imagin the views are equally breathtaking. Thank you so much Lisa and family

    Lovely little place.

Lovely little place. The lake is the perfect place for water activities and the hills around provide some amazing views for walkers. The small railway is a great little trip at the side of the lake. Food places are great aswell, so if you like old school welsh towns then Bala is the place.

We had a great time in Bala and enjoyed some time at the lake. We recommend the garlic bread from the Pizza restaurant, the meat from the Jones Butcher, The Tapas Ice cream at Aran Hufen la Ice cream is a MUST - they also make the most delicious coffee! Also, not too far away in Tywyn, is a delicious Honey Ice cream shop called Holgates that is well worth a trip. Stop on the way to Tywyn to enjoy the Dolgoch Falls for an invigorating walk along the beautiful river enjoying the many water falls along the way and soaking up the beauty of the forests around the river.

A small and quiet town with a lot to see in the area. Cearnau Gardens is well worth a visit and the train alongside the lake is pleasant. A trip out to Portmeirion is highly recommended. It would be worth noting that the visit Bala site is not longer being updated and so is rather out of date - there are no tourist information facilities in the town at all so it is best to do research before you go. We did limited walking but the available information on local walks was very poor - you can pick up one leaflet from the main rail station of a walk around the lake - but note that it isn't actually possible to access the lakeside or walk close to it off road in most places. Best restaurant is The Old Wives Tales but there is also an excellent Bakery for snacks, a wonderful ice cream shop and Plas Yn Dre is also a great restaurant.

Bala and North Wales are beautiful places and visiting any part of Wales is a pure joy. The people are really friendly and the scenery incredible and perfect for motorcyclists! The roads are excellent and well maintained with very good surfaces. Rain or shine Wales is a fabulous destination for all.

A great place for group to stay for our White Water Rafting weekend. The location is excellent, quiet but a short walk from the bars and restaurants of Bala. The property was very clean and tidy. It was fun to be able to gather around the dining table and the sitting room to eat, drink and relax and the wood burner made it nice and cosy.
