Its been years since we were at Ayr and it now feels very dirty and run down.
The high street was extremely dirty with dog poo and a lot of shops were boarded up.
There wasn't much to do or see there.

Ayr is a good tourist spot ( the beach, Pirate Pete’s, Haven Craig Tara holiday park, heads of Ayr farm park) and a neat community. The people are friendly, bus drivers are nice, cheap and good transportation system. I really enjoyed my trip.

Ayr town has plenty of shops, pubs and restaurant's with an attractive beach nearby. Head south on a wonderful coastal drive passing coastal villages, castles and sea views. National Trust's Culzean Castle is magnificent and well worth a visit.
Of course Robert Burns was born in Alloway just a short drive from town centre so visit his cottage and the visitor centre.

As we were only staying one night, we unfortunately didnt get to see Ayr, and what it has to offer.
But we would love to return, and stay longer, so we could enjoy some of the surrounding activities, and historical sites.

The standard of service from staff is at best average so definitely needs to be improved.
Breakfast standard is poor and needs to be improved.
Disappointing stay and would not rush back or recommend.
The location is fantastic easy walking access to Ayr beach and esplanade, likewise the city centre , ample parking near hotel.
The rooms are very spacious , comfortable (bed especially) tea and coffee ect.
The breakfast is outstanding freshly cooked , this was my third visit over 6 years and the standard has been the same ,
But by far the best feature has to be the staff and your host Linda nothing is to much trouble for them , will i return you bet I would ..thankyou again for a wonderful if brief stay ..
Good location in Ayr. Handy for the beach and town centre. Pleasantly surprised to see Mahou availble on draught at the bar. Breakfast was good. We stayed in a superior double room which comprised off the main bedroom area, with a second room off of it, with 2 additional beds, which was good because it meant my wife and I could stay up a bit later and watch TV, whilst my infant son went to bed - hotel provide a cot for use at no additional charge.
Excellent visit to the Horizon. Great location, great huge bed. Excellent breakfast, lovely staff, very helpful and pleasant. Nice to see a hotel that is so dog friendly. And we had lovely weather. 10/10 visit to Ayr. Thank you all at the Horizon. Excellent value for money. Loved the haddock and poached egg for breakfast, cooked to perfection. 👍
Room, breakfast staff all very good, comfortable, and I got a good B&B rate so very good value for money for the quality of the hotel. I liked that there was a leisure club with pool, gym, sauna, steam room.
