We stayed at Elderbrook House for a quick visit to the Avebury stones. We were welcomed and shown to our room even though we turned up well before check-in time. The proprietors are friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was filling and delicious. The property is only a few miles from Avebury. There aren't many accommodation options close to the stones so it is nice that this one is a gem. Would recommend.

This was a gem. A very old building with interesting features.
* The room- Looks into the street. Spacious room. Pretty bed. Pretty fireplace feature. Delightfully wonky floors. A lovely staircase to the roll top bath. Large bathroom.
* The pub- pleasant staff. Tasty beer. Active fire basket in a pretty fireplace. The pleasant scent of a wood fire.
* Parking- on roadside until 8.30am. Paid day parking in centre of road max two hours using parking app.
Longer term parking I didn’t look for but apparently is behind Boots/Superdrug.
* Shops- lovely set of options. Shops typically opening 9 or 10am, mostly after ten.

The room was a good size and the bed was too. Nice and clean, good mug sizes for the hot drinks.
I didn't have the breakfast but saw it and it looked really good, would definitely have it next time.

This is an old school pub and inn, located in an older set of buildings. My room was called “Stable” so I assume that building was a renovated stable from years ago. The location was great, the pub and the inn had a local charm. The staff was friendly, the food in the pub was very good, the atmosphere of the pub and the garden patio was lovely, fun, and very typical of a popular local pub. The room was comfortable, attractive, and though everything was quite old, served me really well. I enjoyed a really fun afternoon and evening here and rested well. I would return.
Providing a garden, The Cabin - a very quiet location offers accommodations in Pewsey. The campground, set in a building dating from 2013, provides free Wifi and free private parking.

My favourite places were sitting under the big trees around the henge. Touching all the ancient stones. You can walk all around Avebury. Loved the Crystal shop 'Elements', bought many lovely gifts, mostly for me ! There's also a little church next to Elements where you can go round to the back and you can sit and just chill for a while, which my sister and I took advantage of. There's also an old second-hand Bookshop in an old stable. We ate at the pub 'The Red Lion' which is said to be one of the most haunted pubs !

The stone circles and avenue were amazing.
The stone circles and avenue were amazing. The national trust carpark was necessary. The walk to Silbury Hill and the long barrow and the sanctuary was lovely.
There is a community shop and a pub, and the national trust cafe. The house was closed but the gardens open with a sculpture exhibition. There is a small museum.

The Red Lion restaurant has operated for many years, good food and atmosphere , indoor and outdoor seating.

Avebury stones dwarf its flashier near-neighbour Stonehenge.
Avebury stones dwarf its flashier near-neighbour Stonehenge. I first visited Stonehenge in the early 1970s, but once I found Avebury I never went back. The henge is so large that it contains a village, and many of the stones are massive. In addition to the stones themselves there are numerous other things to see, such as the West Kennet Avenue, the West Kennet long barrow, Silbury Hill (the largest man-made mound in Europe) and The Sanctuary. There are a few pubs close to Avebury, with the Red Lion in the centre of the village. We had an evening meal there. Avebury is small enough for you to get around most of the the sites mentioned above on foot. The National Trust puts on activities but we didn't take part in any of them during our stay.

Great B&B friendly host, very clean comfy room.
Great B&B friendly host, very clean comfy room. Delicious breakfast, spacious car park. Well stocked fridge with honesty box. Great location for touring the area. The host had arranged a 20% discount off food at the local pub for residents. We took advantage of this for a meal... a nice saving. Highly recommended B&B.
