the hotel was lovely. we like the food being all local produce as i come from a farming family . We loved the peace and quiet , just the place to re charge and relax. We fell asleep listening to the waves lapping on the shore. Hope to return next year. Thank you to all the staff and family.

Owners & staff incredibly friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Gluten free fried breakfast was a huge bonus!! I only had breakfast at the property, but evening menus looked to have a good variety. Very dog & family friendly. Beautiful property & scenery. Very peaceful. Clean facilities, room tea & coffee making facilities well supplied

Auchencairn itself doesn't have many facilities, but there are lovely walks/cycle rides nearby and lots of interesting small towns to visit in the neighbourhood. I would recommend Kirkcudbright for individual shops and nice pubs/restaurants (The Selkirk) and Kippford for walks and views (The Anchor serves great food). Castle Douglas, Gatehouse of Fleet and Rockcliffe all worth a visit.
