The location was our main focus as within an 15 min walk from an event we were attending, the room was very basic but the bed was very comfortable

Lovely room and very good meal in the Beeches. Slight problem as the room was above the central heating boiler which was noisy. Ear plugs would help. Lovely staff.

The beeches is a bit tired.
The beeches is a bit tired. In need of a refurb accommodation wise. One room was being decorated when we were there. Our en-suite needed a deep
Clean. The cubed shower had a lot of mould / soap residue build up in the door channels, the shower spray needs replacing and the water not that hot. The basin needed a good clean around the over flow hole and base of the taps. When we moved a bedside cupboard we found a mouldy satsuma and a tin of Vaseline from a previous occupant. The room was a bit scruffy with unnecessary fake flowers. A huge tv, too big for the room. However it was cheap at £65 per night, the bed was comfortable and linen clean and decent towels. The unexpected continental breakfast left in a wicker basket was a bonus and good quality. All in all you get what you pay for but a dirty bathroom and shower is no excuse. Location was perfect for our onward journey.

Lovely town and friendly people, good mix of individual shops and some high street shops. Beautiful area with lots to see and do.
Area steeped in history and countryside but within short distance of many interesting towns and villages.

We liked it so much we went back into town 3 times.
We liked it so much we went back into town 3 times. Best shops were the Birds Bakery, the indoor market and Ashby Tool Box. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Parking was free for disabled. Alpaca farm just outside was pleasant and we liked looking around the Bluebell Arboretum.

Staff were accommodating and friendly and I can't praise them enough.
Room cleanliness and spa area could be looked into a lot more but with in-house adjustments/training I'm sure this can be easily rectified. Champney's could benefit from pre-room checks by a second person and a presence in the spa area to monitor the rules they have stipulated as none of them are adhered too regarding people claiming their reclining chairs and maximum amount of people in one specific area.
ATTENTION TO DETAIL Champney's to set you apart from the rest for this location.

A lovely historic town, very dog and human friendly!!
A lovely historic town, very dog and human friendly!!…. and in light of the current Covid restrictions they are coping very well. Some great places to visit within a very short distance. Plenty of choice of eateries, whether it be Pub grub or afternoon tea! Definitely worth a visit.
Would recommend Hicks Lodge, a National Park with lots of walks, play and picnic areas, cafeteria and brilliant views across the National forest.
Calke Abbey, Mercia Marina too were brilliant.

Breakfast was incredible! Delicious scrambled eggs and plenty of fresh juice. Room was massive and felt so homely compared to larger chain hotels I usually stay at for work. Immaculate bathroom with heated towel rail. Lots of storage space for clothes - ideal for the longer stay. Lovely prompt greeting on arrival. Big carpark & garden for the summer. Felt like new carpets throughout. Everything was spotless - real attention to detail given here.
We stayed here for a family wedding near by. Lovely location and, a short drive into the village, there was no breakfast option however Greggs was in the village and plenty of other options. The pub was very welcoming a great choice of beers, though we didn't eat there the carvery looked amazing.
cute little hotel above a pub and bar. pictures don’t do it justice, really nice, all the basics are covered. location is a lovely town with plenty of nice places for something to eat. nice and quiet. the locals are really friendly. the staff are amazing. I will be booking again
The property is close to where I was working but also close the Ashby so getting food was easy as well. All in all great place to stay and by far better than a hotel room.
