We visited this hotel as we were going to Alton towers and it's really close.
I have visited before and absolutely love this hotel.
All the staff are helpful and very polite. During check in I was told we had a free upgrade to the bakeell room and it was absolutely beautiful. The views outside the room were lovely and the room was large and very clean. Can't wait to visit again.

Location ideal. We wanted somewhere with facilities, but near enough to explore the Peak District easily. Key locations for us were Kedleston Hall and Hardwick Hall, both of which are driveable within the hour, and great for a visit. The drive down through Dovedale from Bakewell is gorgeous, and the B roads locally are of good quality with minimal traffic so you can enjoy the ride. Ashbourne itself is an attractive town, good shops and good eateries. The property is modern, sizeable, clean and comfortable, all you could ask for from a holiday let. Really good break for us and would go back.

Having visited ILam when I was 10 years old it was wonderful to return to the happy memories I've held dear for many years ( I'm now 49 ) Met up with a dear friend and enjoyed a trip to Ashbourne followed by a relaxing evening sitting in the grounds of Ilam Hall drinking wine and catching up. The food was lovely. Simple but filling and tasty. Staff were amazing and the other guests were of all ages with a lovely friendly but not invasive feel. For some I can imagine it would be rather basic but when you consider the beautiful surroundings and the fact that you are staying in a historical building in a stunning part of the country for very little money it makes the whole experience unique and affordable. One I will repeat again and again. I highly recommend a
visitor.
On average, 3-star hotels in Ashbourne cost $176 per night, and 4-star hotels in Ashbourne are $78 per night. If you're looking for something really special, a 5-star hotel in Ashbourne can be found for $192 per night, on average (based on Booking.com prices).

it was busier than we imagined. we ate in two lovely independent restaurants/cafes, Lamplight & Corner stone. The park was nice to stretch legs in but is not that large...we were only in town a few hours.

Small cute place.
Small cute place. Great genuinely Gluten Free and affordable Thai Restaurant in the center called 'Thai Basement' (01335 300305). Cute cellar based restaurant. Don't let the tiny door leading down to it put you off, it's a gem!

Lovely, charming little town, St.
Lovely, charming little town, St. Oswald's church is amazing to visit. The little Historical Centre is also a must to learn about the Ashbourne Shrovetide Football, and the Memorial Park was lovely too.
Easy access to the Tissington Trail is from the centre of Ashbourne, but sadly a substantial length of it was closed for our visit due to Ash Tree felling. This is due to continue well into December.
Short drive to Dovedale NT Nature reserve, but the river was in quite a full spate due to the recent rain so access to the Stepping Stones were limited. Ilam Park was a good alternative place to visit however.
We had an Anniversary meal at The Lamplight which was exceptionally good, and we had excellent lunches at Jack Rabbit's and Beaumont's.
We also had a couple of beers in the lovely Queen's Vaults which is a very cosy Craft Beer bar, as well as an excellent pint of Draught Bass in the Wheel Inn, where we were welcomed by the very friendly locals.

Lovely village.
Lovely village. Lots of pubs, restaurants, shops and places to walk.
Very friendly people who are happy to stop and chat with you. Excellent location for Alton Towers - 20 minutes away.
Very good bike hire for short or longer rides. Tissington is a safe journey along the Tissington trail.
Have been here three times and still find new things to do.
Easy to find different cultures of food - Chinese, Indian, British, etc..
Looking forward to returning next year.

Thank you
The Pigsty is an absolute 5* gem in the Peak District. Beautifully refurbished to a very high standard, stunning, quiet location and Sue and Mark were excellent hosts. The perfect base from which to explore the many delights of the area and the glorious weather was an added bonus! This was our first visit to The Pigsty but won't be our last!
Beautiful property in the heart of Derbyshire - everything we needed was provided and if we were missing anything, the host was available to help. Stunning location surrounded by lush green fields and a lake on site. Would highly recommend to groups or families - thank you for a lovely stay!
The hotel is a great base for the Peak District, staff very friendly and treats for the dog. We stayed 2 nights, like the back entrance so you didn't have to go through the pub, we had drinks on Saturday and ate dinner on Friday. The bed was comfy and plenty of pillows.
Breakfast was very good, wide choice, and gluten-free bread was available as requested. Location was convenient for local pubs, and handy for Ashbourne, just a few miles down the road. There was a nice garden, with lots of flowers in a small area.
. Beautiful room overlooking the dales, super views, very quiet. Walks to Dovedale & area start from just behind the hotel. Staff were most welcoming & helpful
