    Lovely friendly people.

Lovely friendly people. The Eagle Inn is very welcoming and the Mott and Bailey has lovely food. It's easy enough to walk around even though it's on a hill. If you have mobility issues, I saw ever the most delicate walkers manage the hill, they just took it slowly. We visited on the first Antique fair for 120 years. It was fab with lots of stalls and vintage cars and scooter.

The medieval gothic castle is a victorian fantasy with little of the original remaining. The townof Arundel is an over abundance of antique shops and craft boutiques. It is handy forLittlehampton which has a nice beach.

Arundel has a great range of things to do for a few nights stay. The castle garden are theatrical and pleasant, with some unusual plants. There are ample places to eat and drink and some interesting small shops. Several walks in the vicinity, both long and short. Round the lake (off Mill Road) then ending up at Fauna Brewing taproom for pizza and craft beer was a favourite.

The town itself is very quaint and picturesque. We were there for the Medieval tournament which runs every year and is excellent family entertainment. We especially loved the steak house in town and enjoyed all the local pubs.

Room rate overpriced ( maybe due to Goodwood races being on). Hotel decor in real despair. In need of TLC, Interior and exterior decor in bad need of repair and painting. Bed comfy however so sleep was good. Staff friendly but room rate overpriced.

Visited Arundel castle for the jousting, castle and grounds fantastic although lots of steps, may be a problem if not so fit, parking easy and opposite castle and lots of space. Cafe area within Castle was very clean and food spot on. Town centre was near and well worth a visit. Large roundabout was very busy, but no major problem.

Friendly staff - it was very hot during my stay but the room had two fans, one on the ceiling and the other freestanding, which was a big help. Hotel very convenient for the railway station and about 15 minutes walk to the town of Arundel.

A superb pub-hotel, with more style and panache than most pubs, and better service than most hotels of any size, this really is a gem. Ideally situated in Arundel's historic heart, you really can't get better than this!
