Food was incredible. Great choice of beers. Location was great for us. Dog friendly and we were made to feel really welcome. We've been coming here since 2017 and always know for certain we'll recieve great hospitality with Steve and his team.

The accommodation was one of the cleanest that we have ever stayed in. Exceptionally roomy, cosy and attention to detail was appreciated with provision of toiletries and décor of the property.
The hut faced beautiful views of surrounding fields.

Welcome bottle of wine! Delicious platters for breakfast. Lovely, caring hosts. Very clean and well looked after. Homely. And off street parking. Short drive to Carlisle or to a local pub for a meal.
Great location for Lake District, Roman stuff, Scotland.
Just as well it was towards the end of our trip as it set high expectations

It is a really good area to stay as it is close to so many attractions. On the River Eden with beautiful walks and views. Excellent places to eat in Armathwaite and nearby. (highly recommend Fox and Pheasant). You need your own transport to get around. We have not found anything to avoid in the 4 years we have been coming here and come at least twice yearly.

There is so much to explore in the area as it is close to Scottish border and 'The Lakes'. There is something to see and somewhere to go in every direction.
I ate at several local places. The Fox and Pheasant do really good meals/snacks and I had a lovely Sunday Lunch with relations at 'The Heather Glen country house'.
You really need to have your own transport for this area to be able to explore.
I don't think I have found anything to avoid yet in 4 years of coming here.

Great base for exploring the Lakes.
Great base for exploring the Lakes. Armathwaite is very scenic and a good walking area. Also situated on the Settle to Carlisle railway.
We had all of our meals at the Fox and Pheasant. The food was excellent. We did call for a coffee at the other pub in the village, The Dukes Head, this was also very nice and friendly.

We enjoyed the simplicity and effortless hospitality of our hosts. After we enquired about local walks one member of the team came back to us with a hand written guide to take us through the local woodland and beauty spots and described a whole variety of other short walks that we might enjoy.
