We booked a balcony suite overlooking the lake, its probably one of the best rooms we've stayed in! It was huge, lots of space and lovely decor. Patio furniture on the balcony was nice, although it was abit cold to sit out, the views from inside were beautiful.

Ambleside is lovely and we have been so many times but never tire of it. There are lots of places to enjoy an evening meal and plenty of shops, for those that are not on walking holidays. For those that are, there are walks to suit anyone and everyone from the town and in no time at all are you able to gain height and enjoy the fells and the peace and quiet.

Absolutely lovely charming place with an abundance of things to do! From easy walks to difficult climbs, strolling around the shops and eating lunch and jumping on a boat to get around the lake.Mini golf course, park, cinema but also quiet places tucked away if you don’t like it too busy. Theres something for everyone! Everywhere we either ate or drank (or both!) was so cosy and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back.
Once you’re in Ambleside itself it’s quite easy to walk round, slightly hilly but nothing too strenuous.
Favourite place we had food was Sheila’s cottage, I would tell you my favourite place for a drink but I loved them all! Maybe the Unicorn was ever so slightly my favourite.
We did the Loughrigg fell walk and the views were out of this world!

We were pleasantly surprised as we arrived on the day of the switching on of the Christmas lights and street carnival. There were fireworks later in the night. You always felt you were on holiday. Lots of eateries, but found it a bit expensive. Great town to make your base from when exploring the Lake District.

Lovely modern room with big king sized bed at the top of the house. Small hotel. We passed other guests but didn't hear a sound from them in the room. Room was hot but they had provided a fan and nice big roof window. Location was really handy with parking just across the road, Windermere Pier just down the hill (10 mins) and Ambleside just up the hill (less than 10 mins I'd say.
The facility was so dog friendly. Dog bed and biscuits were provided. My dog was also allowed to sit with us while we had breakfast. Breakfast was lovely with very good choices. Idea location for walks in and out of ambleside. The staff were very friendly and the parking was good value for money. Bed was very large and both myself and my partner found it to be very comfortable.
It’s very close to Ambleside centre with parking for one car. The kitchen has everything you need and milk, tea and coffee plus dishwasher tabs are very useful.
The apartment is very warm with a lovely log burner. Plenty of coat rails and shoe rack for wet walking gear.
This is a lovely dog friendly hotel. The staff were very warm and welcoming. It was great being able to just walk down stairs to the restaurant, and it’s right in the centre of Ambleside.
