This property is a sanctuary of calm. It has only a few rooms and the owners Marie Claire and Vincent live on-site. They were available for anything I needed, from a glass of wine in the afternoon to booking a taxi when I needed to go out for the evening. I felt personally taken care of here.
Their on-site restaurant has exceptional seasonal dishes and a lovely wine list. I booked a standard room, which was more like a suite - sitting room with fireplace and a full kitchen, plus a private outdoor lounge area with seating and table.
The best part of this stay was the peaceful surroundings. I found myself listening to bird song and leaves blowing through the trees - an activity in itself here. The property has stone walls around the perimeter and grounds for walking with tons of beautiful trees that are centuries old. It was so restorative.
3.30 hrs from Calais mostly motorway. Amazingly good food and drink. Excellent value for money. Lots of activities and kids club. You can row around the Chateau play tennis, golf driving, do yoga and lots more. Kids facilities including bikes are amazing. Premier rooms are in the Chateau the rest scattered over the site in farm style buildings in keeping with the estate. All very good quality. The outside pool is a good size but could do with more facilities there. You can even book a room above the Spa and walk downstairs to the lovely indoor pool and gym. Gets busy at weekends as locals can book per day and Parisians descend for the weekend. Near Versailles and Giverny if you want a day out. Can’t praise it enough due to expectations and value exceeded. Very few brits in fact we were the only ones for the first few days.
