I have really mixed feelings about Domaine de Suzel. I made my reservation 6 months in advance. I keep checking when the restaurant reservations open up and reserved a table 2 months in advance. The menu sounded really good including foie gras. I reserved a Prestige doble room with bathroom. When we arrive they tried to assign us a tent with comunal bathroom. Totally unacceptable. They ask us to go to the pool while they find a solution because no more rooms. Two hours latter they assign us a 2 bedroom flat right outside of the domaine. Best a/c in europe but still smell like paint because they are still working on the flat. It was ok but not what we expected. It was a nive touch to give un chocolate and a bottle of wine. Then we clean up and go to our 7:00 pm dinner reservation just to find out the restaurant is closed for a private party. However we can stay. Only paella and a board with cold meats. I have to say this place is so remote, no other place to go. After 2 hours of waiting at 9:00 pm the paella was ready. Next day, at check out did not charged me for dinner. The Domaine tried to make it right but to us was a big disappointment. The place is beautiful but if they can t accommodate your reservation they should not confirmed. Will never go back.

We originally booked a room in "Les Dependances", and were upgraded to a room in the "Chateau" itself, overlooking the beautiful swimming pool and surrounding parks. It was clean and comfortable, but is in need of refreshment, presenting good bedding but cheap furniture with the exception of a beautiful antique wardrobe. The same can be noted about the bathroom and its cheap furniture. There was a small coffee machine in the room but cardboard cups, which is taking one by surprise in this type of accommodation. The bedtables were covered with table clothes that are in urgent need of a good washing. While the outside of the building and the park are extremely well maintained and presentable, the inside is not as welcoming, The foyer of the accommodation section is poorly decorated, not inviting at all. The staircase has retained its glamour but the corridors are in need of some decoration and fresh air; windows were not opened once during our 2 nights stay. We discovered quickly that the place is often used for receptions and it is obvious that management is putting much more value on these than on providing individual guests a true chateau-hotel experience. We arrived after one of these receptions and outdoor furniture was in complete disorder in many places in the park; it looked much better on the next day when everything was back where it belonged. A good buffet breakfast was served in "Les Dependances", which provided us with a walk across the park in the morning, as this section is located close to the entrance to the park.
In conclusion, we would like to say that we are having mixed feelings about the place, regretting that the management does not seem to be currently interested in upgrading the hotel for guests who do not belong to groups. The place could be extraordinary with little improvement. However, we liked the location and we will probably return to the place.

The staff we amazing I felt like I was visiting friends. I got there early and was soaking wet because of the rain. The cook took care of me got me in my room and made me a cup of tea. Comfortable rooms and the food at their restaurant was amazing. If you are a vegan this is a great spot. Also they have an area for your bicycle and close to the ViaRhôna.

This bastide has a hotel plus self catering villas, wedding and conference venue and a spa. The property and the grounds were attractive and we liked the “whispering angels” statues illuminated at night. Our room - one of the larger ones - had a very comfortable bed and nice bathroom with a good shower. The staff were pleasant and helpful.
A fabulous country hotel . well worth visiting. I stayed in a room in the castle with a four pister bed. As befits the surroubdings the room was not ultra modern but everything worked and the bed was comy and the bathroon spotless. the goumet restaurant was amazing with great views as the sun set .
