We visited the chateau in early December but it was still very crowded with visitors which made it difficult to appreciate. Despite the inclement weather we managed a quick tour of the wonderful gardens but I would prefer to visit when there are more flowers out and being a bit warmer without rain. The town itself was very pleasant with lots of restaurants and cafés to eat in. There are two distinct areas, le Quartier Notre Dame and St Louis with cobbled streets and interesting architecture. The Coach Museum is worth a visit and it is free to get in. It is very easy to get to Versailles on the train from central Paris. We spent 3 nights there but I would recommend staying longer.

The palace and gardens of Versailles were amazing.
The palace and gardens of Versailles were amazing. Breathtaking. Once you leave the palace I don’t think you can re-enter. We missed out on buying souvenirs because of this. In August the park closes at 20.00 but many things finish before, some as early as 16.30, so worth checking schedules for events you’d most like to see. Also we took the little on/off train (which ceases at 18.00) to the Petit Trianon to access Queen Marie-Antoinette’s landscaped gardens centred around a hamlet of cottages. On a warm sunny day this was a lovely place to experience.

Everything is within walking distance, tourist attractions, food, shopping, groceries, necessities. Easy and many transportation options close by. Many of the employees of the restaurants, shops etc spoke some English and this made it easier to communicate for directions etc.

entry into the buildings is by a prebooked timed ticket only. It takes about two hours to get through the palace.
much of the palace is busy but not crowded, that is until you reach the heart of the palace, the hall of mirrors, where the crowds build up.
If you have a ticket that also permits entry into the grounds. You may need a further four hours to walk around the extensive area.
I ate in a small room at the side of the palace. prices felt very reasonable considering where we were eating.

We enjoyed seeing the Palace and associated artwork, the estate of Trianon, and the Palace grounds. There are many beautiful statues throughout the property. Touring the palace and grounds requires a lot of walking. We rented a golf cart to tour the palace grounds. The rental was 40 euro for the first hour and 10 euro for each additional 15 minutes. The golf carts were limited as to where you could go, and it took almost an entire hour to drive the route you were allowed to travel on while stopping to take a few photographs.

Beautiful, scenic and clean city. There are many eating areas with good local food especially near the Palace and gardens. We did not use the bus services as it was a bit confusing to figure out the routes

The hotel is spotlessly clean, towels were changed every day, room tidied too. Staff were very friendly. Brilliant location for Versailles, the palace is within walking distance. The hotel is central to Versailles, lots of shopping and restaurants very close by, just parked the car up for the 3 days we were there, perfect!
Hotel is accessible too, with a small lift at street level, then a lift inside to all floors.
The hotel was quite basic but comfortable. It benefits from being only a ten or fifteen minute walk from the Palace of Versailles with several restaurants in close proximity. The hotel had not booked our parking space as requested and had confirmed so none were available. The reception manager, Christian, was very helpful in helping us find a space elsewhere.
All the staff I spoke to were lovely! The room was clean and a good size. Great location, only about 10 minutes' walk to the Palace of Versailles and even less to the train station. Plenty of cafes and restaurants around too. I felt very safe and comfortable as a solo female traveller in the hotel, which is very important and a great plus point.
Everything! Communication was fantastic which helped with parking. The apartment was so clean and perfect for our needs. The best thing was the location. Exactly what I expected and more from Versailles.
