A good central location to explore the Pyrenees only being c40 minutes from Perpignan airport and 1 hour to Collioure.
Some restaurants were only open at weekends, but there were 2 reasonably good ones open every day.
Also about 1 hour to drive to Mont Louis.
Very good market on a Wednesday for local foods etc.

Great town in the heart of the Pyrenees with easy access and great services, facilities and restaurants. Easy walks from the town itself and surrounding areas easy to get to. 45 minutes to the coast and 45 minutes to ski resorts, what more could you want?!

This a charming city, in a less travelled region of France, that is filled with hidden cultural and architectural wonders: There is a slough of excellent culinary gems, that remain undiscovered, but are well worth the search. There is also a world reknown music festival honoring genious cellist Pau Casals:

Small town nestled under the foothills of the Pyrenees...
Small town nestled under the foothills of the Pyrenees Orientales with views of the Pic de Canigou. The town itself is unremarkable and has a one way system due to its narrow main street. It was hard to find a good place to eat as many restaurants were closed (maybe still from the lockdown a few weeks back) but eventually settled on l'Alegría with its very friendly host for a reasonable meal. Prades is famous for its music festivals especially the classical festival held in August founded by Pablo Casals. Well situated for hikes in the area but not much else to recommend it.

Located very centrally in Prades, and happy to have a bicycle taken up to the room. Very helpful front desk. No dinner when I visited, but the central square (under 5 mins) has plenty of very nice restaurants -- and is very charming. Breakfast was generous, and in a nice sized room.
The English couple running the hotel were very welcoming and gave us (probably) the best room in the hotel, with a massive double balcony and extensive mountain views. They even offered us a lift to Villefranche.
The location on the edge of Prades is brilliant as a base to explore the area. Beautiful pool area with stunning bougainvillia.
Spacious room. Excellent breakfast. Local based buffet evening meal.
The house is fantastic! My wife was excited about the interior and exterior. You can get more for breakfast than in a usual hotel in France. Not just croissants with coffee.
