Parking was very convenient. Swimming pool, although not used, looked good being of a reasonable size with adjacent sunbeds. Overall this is a budget style hotel and as such was good value.

The location is ideal on the periphery of the village. The room was spotlessly clean and food was available by arrangement if required. Parking was available within the property grounds. The proprietor was very pleasant and attentive to guests.

The room. Spacious, the view from the room and the history. If only the wall can talk, you feel like there’ll be lots of stories to tell. There’s also a lovely garden and a big sitting room. Great location. But we don’t have a vehicle so it’s challenging for the driver to get there because it’s in a medieval village.

It was very charming with a lovely deck. It was very clean and our host went out of her way more than once to help us out. The architecture was beautiful.

Beautiful hotel. It's not 5* but that's not what we wanted or expected for the price...the accommodation has been sympathetically restored, all rooms individually designed around the original features and comfortable beds and linen. We had family 2 bedroom apartment.
Breakfast....it's a must.
We also stayed for dinner which was good value and super tasty. Family of four thoroughly enjoyed a one night stop. Very helpful staff as we arrived with a van and trailer so needed advice on where to park.

It was a great spot for our one night stay. Clean, comfortable, small efficient room, friendly staff.

There are several good restaurants and bars, take away foods, and some gift shops. The medieval character of the town is well maintained, a credit to the residents. There doesn't appear to be a lot of tourist accommodation in the town itself, people are coming in just for the day but it is by no means crowded. There is very little traffic inside the walls of the town except for deliveries and drop offs. For longer stays you can shop and dine in nearby Meximieux which is a 15-20 minute walk away.

The 'city' has been maintained in 'original' condition.
The 'city' has been maintained in 'original' condition. The many artisinal shops well illustrate the range of skills within the village as do the boulangeries and restaurants providing a satisfying range of fare including the traditional galettes. Tours are available with guides if necessary. The village is small and can be adequately covered in half a day. It is very well worth visiting! There are a number of other historical sights within relatively close driving distance of the village which could make it a good base to explore the surrounding area as well.

I enjoyed my visit to Perouges very much.
I enjoyed my visit to Perouges very much. It is a beautiful town, completely medieval. There were already tourists in January. I think there will be many more in the spring and summer. I would recommend anyone wantng to stay in the old town to make reservations well ahead, months ahead for the high season.

This was a stunning old medieval village, small enough to walk around and explore thoroughly in less than a day. Staying there was like stepping back in time. And we had the streets to ourselves in the morning and evening.

A fabulous ancient walled town with lots of tiny shops, boutiques, restaurants and bars, and it's all on your doorstep if you are staying at this hotel.
Once you're checked-in and you've parked your car in the hotel's private car park, everything is walking distance - the streets are all cobbled so a pair of comfortable shoes is advisable.
We ate in the hotel restaurant which was superb - the atmosphere is fantastic and everything is totally unspoilt.
This really is a totally unique hotel and staying there is an experience in itself, and I can't recommend it highly enough.
I suppose the only word of warning I would make is that the town and this hotel may not be the best for anyone with mobility issues - cobbled streets and tightly winding spiral staircases may cause difficulties. Having said that, the staff are all extremely helpful and it would be worth asking them what facilities are available.
This hotel, located in the centre of Perouges, is a real treat. Our room was up a spiral staircase and had fantastic views over the village. The restaurant was very good and we thoroughly eating there both in the evening and morning.
The city itself is magical.
