For our last night in the Loire Valley, we had dreadful weather but we stayed at the beautiful 15th century Chateau d'Ainay-le-Vieil castle hotel and ate a fabulous dinner at La Volière, the castle restaurant. Our room was located in one of the towers of the castle ramparts and had a magnificent spiral staircase leading up to it. The castle hotel was so cool and we briefly battled the cold and rain to do a little exploring of the grounds. The breakfast basket was adorable and fabulous.
Handy for the motorway with parking directly outside our room, so good hotel for an overnight stop. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had an evening meal and although the choice was limited the food was good and good value for money . The breakfast was also very good. Mattress firm and comfortable.
Conceniently located close to A71, this hotel is excellent for travellers on the way. The rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinner was excellent, for a reasonable price.
