The town was rebuilt in 1940's after extensive war damage and today is a busy market town with lots of good shops and restaurants and an excellent place to stay and explore on foot or by bike along the many miles of the Avenue Verte (former railway line converted to a wonderful rural pathway) the beautiful Normandy countryside of the Pays de Bray with upland beech woods, rolling pastoral farm fields (source of the milk for the heart-shaped and very creamy Neufchatel cheese) and lowland cerial crops. It is a working town and not a tourist centre (which we very much prefer) with multiple facilities but few historic buildings following war damage yet its people are very welcoming and service provision excellent.

Pleasant clean hotel located in the centre of Neufchatel with an excellent restaurant and in the summer a very pleasant outside terrace though check in advance that as a resident you will have a reserved seat - on one very hot evening we were made to eat indoors.
Lovely little hotel in the centre of town, quite close to the Avenue Verte. Perfect overnight stay on our cycle tour as it had bike storage (we took our own locks). Friendly and helpful staff. Delicious evening meal. Plenty of choice for breakfast.
Family run hotel. Very welcoming. We ate in the restaurant. Beautiful meal and good value for the quality.
Lovely breakfast, with entertainment from the owner's toddler. Very sweet lad.
Nice town to exercise our dog after a day in the car.
Excellent restaurant. Really good food at a sensible price.
Multipoint plugged in beside the bed. At last a hotel that realized people have to charge their phones, etc.
