thought we would just use this as a base to tour the area, but when we got there, we stayed for 2 days and never left the central city. This town is adorable, very historic and has a great market and central square. I have to say we didn't venture out until we were leaving but had a wonderful time sitting around and just watching the world go by.

Brilliant little market town, with a fine cathedral, several weekly and special-occasion markets, excellent choice of family-friendly cafés and restaurants. The riverside paths offer shade and plenty of places to swim and cycle, and the 'voie verte' is excellent to the pretty nearby village of Camon. Don't miss the Monday morning market (c.8am-2pm).
An excellent base for exploring Ariège and the Midi-Pyrenées.

A truly stunning ancient town market square, well worth a visit. Stay the night before to have aperitifs and hors d‘oeuvres in the stunning ancient large market square. The charcuterie in the region is a speciality. Lovely duck salamis. Stay on a Sunday night and rise early for the famous and superb Monday market, the perfect place to buy local produce, vegetables, fresh apricots and peaches and salad along with local Pyrenean salami for our upcoming self catering accomodation in nearby Carcassonne which we were visiting to see the Bastille day exceptional firework display on 14 th July. The biggest display in France. Nice creperie and ice cream parlour as well as more traditional restaurants available in the old market square which was buzzing and a great photo opportunity. Make time to visit the Cathedral and admire the pretty stained glass windows. Ideal for escaping the buzz and cooling down.
we loved this very comfortable hotel in the centre of thus small interesting town. Our room was very well appointed with a very comfortable bed and great bath room. All staff were very helpful and went the extra mile to make us feel very welcome and comfortable. The restaurant served lovely food and breakfast was delicious. Can highly recommend.
This hotel is situated in an excellent location just off the main square of Mirepoix. The host was very friendly and welcoming. The room we had was full of eclectic furniture. It looked great. Our room on the top floor was a very good size. Clean and comfortable. There is plenty of room for a family of 4. Breakfast was fresh pastries.
Massive, airy and well-lit flat right in the middle of Mirepoix! It was well-cooled, which was key because it was really hot while we were there. Smart TV worked well and all cooking equipment was provided. Very clean and a great spot!
