As a Catholic, it had been my dream to make a pilgrimage to the Lourdes Sanctuary, and by God's grace, it came to a fruition.
The Sanctuary was huge, clean, very peaceful and calm. To say that it was beautiful will be an understatement. The prairie and hilly sides of the Sanctuary was a sight to behold. Indeed, God's perfect creation One could feel the sacredness of the place.

People may not realise, it offers a mix of prayers and relaxation via bus visiting Cauterets and Gavarnie Gedere by bus only during some months.
Both places are splendid and worth visiting.

Great indoor market open each morning (close at 14:00) lots of very good restaurants, easy to walk around the town and to the abbey, many pedestrian walkways and most of the streets are one way.
I was unpleasantly surprised on Wednesday evening as I could only find one restaurant (of the dozens) which was open for business, there was an expected storm and it was raining hard but the one that was open had no info on why all the others were closed. I did get an excellent meal, service and the restaurant was almost full but a surprise that most of the city was closed at 19:00 on a Wednesday, at the beginning of October.

Weather in fall is spotty, 2 hot days, 2 days of pouring rain so dress for the unpredictable. Would like to have taken the tour of the Pyrenees mountains (beautiful area) however all the tours end in August or early Sept. due to weather & road conditions. We came on our own and not with a tour group so finding info about Mass, and Candlelight procession didn't happen into late in week.
My husband got very sick on the road trip here. When I asked where the hospital was no one seemed to know which was surprising considering the amount of sick and disabled visit Lourdes. I finally got a map & the front desk showed where it was. The hospital staff was excellent and they made sure we had someone who could speak English. The nurses only spoke French so the google translator was imperative. Make sure you bring copy of meds & medical hx. We had pictures on our phone of all his meds, the dosage & num. of times it taken.

It was near to the "sanctuaires" (several minutes by foot down the hill) and the city center.
The staff at the breakfast room was very friendly and the breakfast was very good for the prize: the biggest and freshest croissants I had during my whole journey through France, cheese, different jams, honey, butter, fruits, yoghurt, orange juice, coffee, tea. I can recommend to take breakfast. The prize was not too high, the room was clean and they changed the towels. Nice bathroom. Lift in the hotel to reach the room.
We visited Lourdes as pilgrims, wanted a hotel close to Basilica& Grotto.This hotel was very convenient- on the main street,close to Basilica,restaurants&cafes.Room not large, but big enough,had a balcony.Little table and chairs,wardrobe, heater.There was no kettle in the room or cups- but we had our own travel kettle.

This is the best accomodation I have ever had in France: clean, quiet and not that expensive at all! The landlord has it all well planned for the sake of guests. The rooms are ample and comfortable.
