Le Barcarès really surprised me.
Le Barcarès really surprised me. A very lovely small town, really well organized with nice markets and good food. Although the city itself doesn't have much to do in the winter we we're lucky enough to enjoy two days of nice weather (around 22°C) with a walk on the beach. The city is also close to Perpignan (about half an hour drive) and other beautiful landscapes in the south of France.

The quiet, beach location was lovely. Set out of the way, but close to the front. Laurent was very helpful and did his best for us, despite his lack of English and my basic French. His son, Richard, was really happy to help and very welcoming. The room was to a high standard and the breakfast was very good each morning. A superb little BnB that we would love to visit again. We were even joined by le petit chien, Monsieur Lucky, for breakfast on the last day.
We particularly liked the location by the sea and the fact that it was possible to use the communal pool. There was also a fan for the warm nights (unfortunately no air conditioning). The fact that we could use the washing machine was helpful for us (unfortunately there is no detergent on site).
