Campanile Fontainebleau, hotel in Fontainebleau

Situated in Fontainebleau, 49 km from Montargis Train station, Campanile Fontainebleau features accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking and a bar. This 3-star hotel offers free WiFi.

Very well located hotel. This was just a short 1 night stopover for us and the hotel had everything we expected: easy parking, dog friendly, short walk from town and the castle. Nothing was memorable in the stay but this place is 10/10 for convenience and practicality. We didn't bother with breakfast as Fontainebleau has plenty of cute cafés and bakeries.

Hôtel Belle Fontainebleau, hotel in Fontainebleau

This hotel is located in the heart of Fontainebleau, 140 metres from Fontainebleau Palace and less than a 15-minute walk to Foret Domaniale de Fontainebleau Forest. It offers free Wi-Fi.

Incredible welcoming and location as we are right on the town centre. The owners are absolutely wonderful, welcoming and helped me carrying my suitcases to our room for my hands were full with the children and we had travelled all day. The breakfast was perfect and the whole place felt extremely homely. 10/10 from us as everything flew so lightly in spite of being alone with the children. The rooms were comfortable and we could not hear any noise outside in spite of being in the town center. We were warm enough and the facilities were immaculate. Perfect for young families and couples. Maybe a tiny challenging as there are steps to climb up to get to the rooms so not advised for elder people who suffer from climbing up or downstairs.

Hôtel & SPA Napoléon, hotel in Fontainebleau

Set 49 km from Montargis Train station, Hôtel & SPA Napoléon offers 4-star accommodation in Fontainebleau and features a bar.

The location can honestly not be beat. Right off the bus stop, right across from the chateau grounds. Nearby great restaurants, the market, a good boulangerie, all is so walkable. The facilities are nice, the staff are great. The 'spa' downstairs, with small pool and sauna, excellent. Our room was set up for our dog with bowls to drink and eat out of, we loved that. The shower in the room was also classy and relaxing. I loved having Cinq Mondes soaps.

    Great choice of restaurants.

Great choice of restaurants. Beautiful chateau and extensive gardens. Multiple walks in the forest. I love the market and various stalls. Café de France, (Rue Grande, close to the church) had authentic, traditional food. £9 glass of delicious champagne, herring and potato salad followed by mussels (various choice of sauces), delicious French fries and salad garnish. My daughter had a fabulous steak accompanied with fries and salad. Yummy bread. Great value for money and friendly service.

Lovely little town full of friendly people.

Lovely little town full of friendly people. The Chateau Fontainebleau was spectacular! My husband and I have toured Versailles twice, but always found it extremely crowded and so difficult to take things in, while being jostled by other guests. Fontainebleau was nothing like that at all. It IS a magnificent chateau, not to be missed in terms of size, architecture and beauty. What is missing is the crowds. Most of the time, we were alone in the rooms (save a few security guards). It made it so much more pleasant to be able to actually take our time and really look at things rather than being constantly jostled along by the crowds of tourists. If you are anywhere nearby, definitely take the time to see it.

Fontainebleau is easily the rival of Versailles, and the bonus is there are far less people squeezing around. The gardens are perfect for a stroll around the water features, people picnicking on the grass and exploring hidden gems within them. The Palace was amazing, without the gold bling of some but with vastly richer history and ornate features easily a match for anything. The town clearly has a multitude of dining options, we got Italian from Pizza Mimi which was wonderful, and we found a quaint little church and some unique little shops in the short time after the Palace closed. Skip the day-trip do yourself a favour and stay longer to properly explore everything this beautiful part of France just out of Paris has to offer.

We had a family break celebrating my 60th birthday on Easter Sunday and we met up with family who live nearby. There is plenary to do for the Easter break in the hotel. They provide everything you need and more. Lovely feel staff friendly. We didn’t eat food as we did our own celebrations but it looked lovely and well laid out. I would happily stay here again.
