Demeures & Châteaux - Hôtel De La Porte Saint-Malo, hotel in Dinan

Located 200 metres from Dinan’s ramparts, this hotel is set within private gardens and offers individually decorated rooms.

The hotel is placed near all the important touristic objectives. A 5 minute walk will take you to the heart of beautiful Dinan. We got a cozy, very clean and spacious room and we enjoyed the best view of Dinan from our window. 😁 We were welcomed for the breakfast by Kevin & Roxana, the owners, and we were delighted to have a conversation about their story. The breakfast was a joy, we ate delicious croissants, pain au chocolat, many French type of cheese and meats and fresh fruits. Kevin also made us a good espresso. 😅 It was our biggest pleasure to meet Kevin & Roxana and we realised they bought the hotel and put their heart in transforming it so that people could enjoy an authentic stay in Bretagne!

Walking along the central old streets was time out of mind.

Walking along the central old streets was time out of mind. The cobbles are as in many old cities, and some streets are steep, so walking requires attention and some stamina. There are so many half-timbered houses, it's almost like a movie set, except it's a real, living town. Le Cosy provided a fantastic dinner with friendly staff. The central old church (St. Sauveur) has 12th c. tombs of knights.

Dinan is a great place to stay.

Dinan is a great place to stay. There are plenty if places to eat and drink. The old town is fascinating and the castle is well worth visiting. There are walks by the river. It might not be suitable for visitors with mobility issues. The road to the port is very steep. Our apartment was on the first floor up a steep flight of stairs so, again, not appropriate for someone with mobilty issues.

Dinan is beautiful and we are sorry that we were only staying for 1 night as part of an organised event. We ate at La Terrasse by the old bridge on the river. The food and staff were excellent. We were able to walk from and to our apartment through the old town without problem. Just be aware that it is steep walking back up from the river to the pedestrianised area of the newer town.

Cafe culture, beautiful views, charming and vibrant town sq with weekly market. Tranquil. Too much to see in one day. Take a two hour electric hire boat with a picnic down the river. Eat Moules until you can't move and relax.

    Charming place, especially the port.

Charming place, especially the port. No boats - while we were there -to St Malo because of the tides, as the river is tidal up to Dinan. The older part is almost traffic free. Fascinating shops, deli's, market on Thursday.

Loved Dinan, its so pretty , every street is pleasing to walk along, and has lots of attractions around the area. Plenty of great places to eat and drink or sit outside the cafe's and watch the world go by. St Malo is a 'must' to see, very similar to Dinan.

A lovely little hotel just outside the Porte de St Malo in Dinan. Great continental breakfast and lovely staff. Very comfortable. We had a room next to a cobbled street which could get noisy during the day, so I'd recommend spending a bit more and getting a room overlooking the lovely little courtyard(s). We'd certainly go again.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The location right in the centre of Dinan was great. The breakfast was fine. The room was very basic but clean, we did ask if there were any upgrades available for which we were happy to pay more but the hotel was full. Dinan was one of our favourite towns of our whole 3 week trip.
