The fashionable Normandy resort of Deauville is famed for its international film festival that attracts worldwide celebrities. The most famous names from the silver screen are immortalised on the entrances to changing rooms lining the wooden, beachfront boardwalk – the Promenade des Planches.
The beach itself is a long stretch of golden sand overlooked by exclusive residences, luxury hotels and the chic casino which is most spectacular at night. As you would expect of such a resort, Deauville also has a golf course, marina housing fancy yachts, and a racecourse. Some of France’s largest horse training facilities are here, and the surrounding area is full of thoroughbred studs.
One of these was once owned by the Strassburger family who lived in one of Deauville’s most beautiful houses – the Villa Strassburger. Its half-timbered elements and multi-angled roof are typical of the town’s architecture. Other similar examples include boutique shops and the Hotel Normandy, a historic property now owned by the Barrière group who also run the elegant Hotel Royal overlooking a seafront park.
In addition to these 5-star hotels, Booking.com offers holiday homes near Deauville Airport, and cheap apartments by the train station which also serves the Parisian Riviera town of Trouville across the River Touques.

I was in Deauville for the Bridge Festival, so chose the location for that reason. However, I would say that some of the restaurants in Deauville are not great value or quality and prefer to eat in Trouville where there is better choice and value in my opinion. It is all down to personal taste, obviously many wealthy Parisians and foreign visitors like to be in Deauville, for the beach and top hotels. Relative to Trouville it is quite smart, but Trouville is more lively and overall more interesting. Next time, I will stay in Trouville although it is more of a walk to the casino.

Great place!
Great place! Lots of restaurants and a lovely place to relax, that said it has plenty of things to do, a nice port, a world renowned boardwalk along a really long and wonderful beach and more including a swimming pool and other great sports facilities.
Plenty of places for and snack or ice cream treat too!

Deauville is an upmarket seaside town, pleasantly twinned (other side of estuary) with Trouville, which is less affluent but still very nice. It’s a little pricey, but that comes with the territory.
Plenty of shops, including designer brands. The town has a nice feel when you walk the streets and is pleasantly developed and clean.

I have stayed in Deauville before - this time it was just a stopover on my way to LeHavre. Deauville is very attractive with a massive beach, good shops and beautiful architecture. Ideal for a long weekend stay.
Last trip I had dinner at the nearby Campanile. Buffet was extremely good.

A beautiful, very upmarket seaside resort.
A beautiful, very upmarket seaside resort. If you are going to get run over in Deauville, it will probably be by a Ferrari or an Aston Martin! A great beach with a beautiful boardwalk. The beach is so huge I doubt it will ever actually be full. Good choice of restaurants to suit most budgets. Le Week End was particularly good and great value.

This is such a spacious apartment! Great for a family, the photos don't really do it justice in this regard. It's not perfect or luxurious, but compared to other properties in Deauville, the price is great and the location is very, very good. We ended up spending more time in Trouville than we expected and it's perfectly located for both. The availability of parking is a big plus also. Brigitte was really kind and helpful in all our dealings with her.
The aparthotel is located approximately in 5-6 km from the Deauville train station. It is important to have/rent a car in order to be independent in travelings.
The room was comfortable enough and clean.
The staff is very supportive and helped us with the bus schedule and reservation of a restaurant nearby.
I would recommend this aparthotel to young people traveling by car. It is not an expensive and comfortable option.
Location was perfect, very close to the beach, Center of Deauville and Trouville.
It was very easy to park near the hotel for free.
We stayed in the two rooms on the ground floor with direct access to the garden and both rooms were amazing !! if you can afford it, don’t hesitate booking them!
Great location, superb comfort in deluxe room. Lovely bathroom, impressive hotel lobby, bar and restaurant. The best beach is just at the western end of Deauville - a beautiful 6km long empty stretch of sand too.
