Beautiful town, well kept, great restaurants and friendly people.
In particular we recommend the "Ardoise" restaurant in rue Rabelais, where you can taste special dishes and excellent wines in a refined atmosphere.

Chinon is a beautiful old mediaeval town by a large river.
Chinon is a beautiful old mediaeval town by a large river. Extremely attractive with narrow streets and pretty squares. Lots of bars and restaurants. We could have spent a day exploring, I think, but chose it simply as a conveniently place to rest for the night. They make very good wine, too!

Lovely clean, modern facility (more of a bed & breakfast than what I would call a hotel). The host was really helpful & attentive. We had the last available room as it was a last minute booking & our host apologised for the size of the room, but it was absolutely fine for our needs. The hotel is within walking distance of a variety of great restaurants & Chinon is a lovely historic, picturesque town. Would recommend staying here, it was excellent value & the breakfast was superb!

Chinon is easily walkable from the river up to the castle/fortress ruins on small streets that are still used in the daily lives of its’ residents. Although old, it is lively and offers many restaurants and shops for any needs you may have. Rather a charming, old city.

The Royal Palace was excellent, with a lot of history.
The Royal Palace was excellent, with a lot of history. The old town was very picturesque with some excellent restaurants. A lot of climbing although there is a lift from the lower town to the fortress. A good range of shops, cafes and bars.

Charming manor house with spectacular river view. Breakfast on the terrace was a delight with fresh croissants, egg and ham and waffles. Our hosts recommended a restaurant, Les Jardinieres, where we had one of the best meals in France. We would certainly return.
Great Location
Small, friendly hotel situated only a short walk over the bridge from the centre of Chinon. Rooms clean and comfortable. Breakfast room and breakfast buffet lovely.
Our beautifully furnished room had a balcony that opened out onto a stunning view of the river. It was a lovely way to spend our first night in France after a long time away.
