We had a lovely welcome, but as we were in the area for a wedding we didn’t spend much time in the room which was quite nice … There is a beautiful garden which we didn’t have time to enjoy.

First impression on arrival was very positive. The building is truly stunning, as is the garden. Second impression: delightful reception welcome, and really interesting and historic games room and lounge. All the public areas were stunning. And then we got to the bedroom ... It was fine, but wow it was a step down from the rest of the hotel (it really did feel like a different hotel). Suddenly upstairs it felt like an old-fashioned 1980s pub. The contrast was jarring.
