Warm welcome by the owner, who executed all the functions of front desk, barman and front of house with effortless ease and efficiency. Good communication beforehand with prompt responses to my queries. I arrived by bicycle and there was a secure storage room to keep my bike during my stay. Both the evening meal and the breakfast were excellent, with a decent wine list for dinner and everything reasonably priced.
In Foncine-le-Haut, Auberge de la Rivière is typical house of the Jura Region and offers an outdoor swimming pool and ski storage. It is just 20 metres from the Saine River Banks.

The view from the veranda was whilst having breakfast was beautiful. You can hear the cow bells in the distance.
It was a real pleasure to meet the owner and his family, and we look forward to returning in the future.
We used this accommodation as a stop from the France to Lake Garda.

I booked in the afternoon shortly before my arrival, as the weather made camping less attractive, so I was pleased that the owner was at the guest house to meet me when I arrived. The place was handy as it was on the GR5 long distance path that I was walking, and considerable less expensive that the only other place in the village open at the time (April). Good sized room.
Situated just 29 km from Herisson Falls, Le Grenier provides accommodation in Bief-des-Maisons with access to free bikes, a garden, as well as bicycle parking.
