The staff are friendly, welcoming and cannot do enough for you. The room was absolutely beautiful with great facilities, love the coffee machine in room and the little piece of nougat on our pillow each evening. Everything was extremely clean and the toiletries in the bathroom smell divine! The ski room is large and well designed with those extra touches like access to slippers once you've removed your ski boots. Breakfast had a huge selection, along with cooked eggs of your choice all included. Cakes and treats available after a full day skiing was very much appreciated.

Brides is a lovely little centre for those who want an attractive location to take leisurely walks in the park and sit and watch the world go by from a shady cafe. We felt as if were part of a real community, going to the boulangerie for cakes in late afternoon and chatting to visitors at the cafes. If we had known how to play belote (a French card game) we would have been welcomed into games taking place in the park. The visitors are mainly aged 50+, many of whom are visiting the town for its thermal cure and well being activities.
Getting to the mountains without a car was a challenge as the buses are infrequent and only early in the day. The telecabin to Meribel only runs on Sundays. The effort to get to the mountain villages was well worth the effort. If you want to visit the Three Valleys and have a sense of French life and culture, Brides is the perfect location.

Brides is a lovely small town ideal for those who want to enjoy the ski area of the Three Valleys but who want a more relaxed, low key environment for the evenings. There is a lovely park alongside the river to enjoy an evening stroll. There are a few bars and restaurants but you don't come here for night time entertainment.

It is really unfortunate that the mayor's idea to boost the town as a location for skiers is to put on over-loud and poor quality bands in the town square. This absolutely ruins the experience. Suppose you are tired after a day of skiing and want to settle down to dinner in comfort? How will you feel if all you can hear is amplified drum beats?

Brides-les-Bains is a cheaper and convenient way of skiing the Meribel / 3 Valleys ski area.
The area is quiet but with plenty going on, and lots of lovely restaurants. The gondola is centrally located, there is an Intersport hire shop attached to the gondola but I found this pricier than the central location (2 minutes down the road). You can however, hire lockers from the Intersport located at the gondola station which was really useful, but worth noting that the locker has a space available for individual sets of skis so will need one per person.
Brides-les-Bains is full of lovely restaurants, however it is vital to book. On our first evening we were wondering around for a while trying to locate somewhere to eat. It appears that they have several 'sittings' for dinner and will often put up a sign to say they are full. We then made bookings for the rest of our stay to avoid this issue.

We love Brides Les Bains as it is not wholly a ski resort - it has a character that is more about the valley location and community than the skiing with interesting buildings, a park, a river and valley scenery. It's a fairly quiet village, although it's livelier in school holidays, when there is usually some kind of entertainment on at the end of the day.
Eating out is varied, although there aren't a huge number of venues.
The village offers free parking in a variety of locations.
It is very easily accessed, and we have never been affected by the weather conditions for getting there or getting away.
Accommodation, both catered and un-catered, is plentiful and reasonably priced.
Plenty to do for non-skiers with well sign posted walks and interesting towns nearby.

French town situated in the valley just below Meribel.
French town situated in the valley just below Meribel. It's connected to the three valleys ski area by a 25 minute gondola ride. As it opens 1/2 hour earlier you actually don't miss any skiing.
Everything seems much cheaper than up in the mountains, and for a cheaper option with access to fantastic skiing it's worth considering as an alternative.

Natacha, the host, was very helpful and accommodating despite the fact that we arrived towards the evening. The place is just 10 mins walk to the ski lift which takes you directly to Meribel in just ~20mins by gondola. You can find a covered car park next to the hotel which is free of charge (very unusual for France) and just 5 mins walk from the place. The hotel is on the main street in Brides-les-Bains where you can find restaurants and cafes.
The view from the hotel on the mountains is beautiful. The hotel is nicely located on the top of the hill. Considerably well maintained. Also wooden spiral stairs look cool.
The hotel is clean, well-located as it’s only 300m away from the bubble lift to Meribel centre, the breakfast is good and it offers a decent room size.
