The view amazing to the port bay (stayed at Emilie 2)

A lovely old town, full of charm, character and quaint streets. There were plenty of bars/restaurants and everyone was very friendly. For a different feel, the harbour was very buzzy, again with lots of waterside bars and restaurants to choose from whilst watching the boats.

A couple of days here gives the time to explore the city and see the sights - the marina, the staircase, the bastion tour, walk the walls and do the hillside walk to the east of the city. On the second day try the boat ride out to the Lavezzi islands for an afternoon - be sure to take sun protection (there is no shade on the island) as well as water and food.

We only spent a few hours in Bonifacio itself but that was sufficient. The citadel is stunning, perched on the clifftops, but is best seen from outside if honest. We did not take a boat trip as they seemed excessively expensive and we were disappointed by the high cost of parking. But if you drive 5 minutes outside of the town, heading west, there is free parking on the road with a stunning walk across the cliffs to the town and citadel. This is, in fact, the best way to see the gravity defying town, balanced precariously on the edge of the cliffs.

The citadel and its surrounds gave plenty of exploration and shopping options. The port is also lovely to get boat trips, food and shop. There was plenty of choice of eating out places in both areas and two little basic supermarkets in the citadel and a large one at the port. The whole place is easy to get around but if you are not good at walking up and down stairs or slopes you can get the petit train at 6 euros a pop from the port to the citadel and back - All the group boat trips were fabulous with three price options to choose from 18 to 37 euro. I was there in early October and the weather was perfect in mid 20’s - still a lot of tourists around so quite busy but not totally seething. I don’t think I would go in high season.
I had a memorable week all round. Loved it and stayed 3 extra days. It does help if you have a little French as not much is translated to English.

The views and hikes are magnificent here.
The views and hikes are magnificent here. I would not want to come with kids or babies, as the omnipresent cobblestones, stairs and huge hills make for difficult transportation of little feet or strollers. It's not such a beach town, as the beach in the city was closed due to falling rocks and the next one nearby was a 5K hike through rocky conditions and sun (with unparalleled views of the sea cliffs). It's a good basis for beaches however, if you have a car and leave in the morning.

Bonifacio is probably the most beautiful city in Corsica.
Bonifacio is probably the most beautiful city in Corsica. Old town is very well preserved and less crowded vs others. Nature is amazing, incredible beaches and the views are just breathtaking. Plus, you can easily go for a day trip to Sardinia, so it's like having a 2in1 location.
FOOD: highly recommend L'Archivolto (local cuisine), but you need a reservation or come around 9 and wait until a table gets free. Also try Ciccio and La Cabane du Pecheur.

The hotel is located at the top of Bonifacio with a wonderful view of the Mediterranean Sea, including Sardinia. The hotel is accessible to the old part of the wonderful city of Bonifacio.
Breakfast has several options and the view from the balcony is magnificent to start the day.
Reception staff was always professional and friendly.
The room was spacious, comfortable and clean.
This was a fantastic location and a funky modern hotel. Perfect for spotting boats coming in and out and absolutely magical at night time to sit on the balcony and admire all of the lights of Bonifacio and the boats in the marina. The bedroom was absolutely tiny and no room to move. Minimal but perfectly adequate and the pool was lovely.
Everything was nice and clear, the house is very modern and new, everything's insinde what we needed, I liked the garden you can sit outside under the trees and there's also a grill. Our best stay in Corsica.
Great location in the south of Corsica. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful - especially the restaurant tips for Bonifacio were first class, we would come back anytime!
This hotel is really well located in Bonifacio area and offers free parking (10’ walking from hotel). Our room was well isolated from the street noise.
