The breakfast is a great mix of French and continental, with fruit and nuts, yoghurt and cereal, pastries and preserves and of course, French cheeses and cut meats - all in a cosy room next to the kitchen. We have stayed here many times and always have our evening meal in the restaurant - simply excellent!
All rooms are delightfully decorated in different themes and our dog has been welcome in all! The town's old defence system provides ample space to walk the dog and let him run free.
Situated within 9 km of Dunkerque Train Station and 23 km of Plopsaland in Bergues, chambres d'hôtes Le Carillon features accommodation with seating area.

Absolutely lovely and helpful host. The location is great, close to all we needed (we only stayed for a night on our way to Italy). It was rather nice to relax in the hot tub after a long drive. The place was very clean and it had all we needed.

Bergues is a beautiful little town, walled and moated, which simply oozes history. There's lots to explore and to see, and plenty of high-quality eateries. We chose our old favourite, "le Berquenard", which is actually a lively pub/bistro and next door to the B&B, but that's our choice as we didn't want a three-course meal, and like the liveliness of a French weekend! We weren't disappointed. Don't bypass Bergues: it is a real gem! The carillon is silened at night!

For me it is a place to start or end my journey through Europe. If going to the uk this still applies. A lovely small town with plenty of history and it’s close to loads of interesting places. Including Both world war battlefields. Also it seems to be being improved with civil works.
So it’s lovely, historic, convenient. What’s not to like.

The old wall town is just beautiful, with lots to see. Interesting walk round the ramparts. Especially liked the Church of St Martin. Also lovely to hear the carrillon chiming the quarter hours across the town

Beautiful town-we happened to be there on Bastille day so lots going on. Walks around the town walls are a must- well signposted with info boards. Market on a Monday. Great friendly bars. We ate at Bienvenue Chez Nous - beautiful building, dreadful service, most of the food was excellent but tarte tatin was inedible

Bergues is just 15 mins from Dunkirk, and we always stay there for our first or last night when travelling to or hrough France. It is a typical French town with a large square, at least two large churches and a bell tower - all seen in a famous French comedy called Bienvenu Chez les Ch'tis. But there are also canals and old fortifications which make for a pleasant and varied walk to whet the appetite ... for cheese! Le Bruegel is our long-time favourite, but be sure to book ahead - last time we didn't and couldn't get in, so we went to La Boustifaille, which was just as good. If all else fails, there's a nice creperie, a couple of friendly bars and a boulagerie in the square, and a friterie (that also sells biere) open till late ...

Lovely place!
Lovely place! Quiet place (we were there on a Sunday though), but beautiful to walk around. In fact you can walk everywhere there. It was great as a weekend getaway, but you can go as a spring-board stop traveling further into France, or on the way back to Britain. We ate and stayed at Bienvenu Chez Nous, which was fabulous. There was plenty of on street parking, but beware the one way system when driving in and out of the town. It's not so much a town for children, but for couples it's a great place. There's also lots of boulangeries/patisseries/cute shops. We want to come back.

The welcome from Eric was wonderful. After a long drive from the UK, he arrived within 5 minutes of us calling him. He told us all about Bergues - restaurants, shops and tourist sights. Eric speaks English perfectly and that helps a weary traveller. The property was modern, comfortable with pods of coffee in abundance and complimentary local apple juice or beer. The car was close by in a secure private car park.
The hotel is in a quiet town an hour from Calais and only a short distance from Dunkirk. If you want to get away from the hustle of the main route chain hotels this is a great stop off. Rooms are comfortable and stylish - ours had a stunning view of the church. The staff are very kind and the restaurant was exceptional value for money. Good Aircon. Free parking on the street but secure parking is available.
Perfect attic room with excellent shower and big, separate bath tub, nice comfy bed. Thanks to helpful, friendly Philippine for everything, including a hearty DIY breakfast. And Bergues is such an attractive and interesting little French town, with its Vauban ramparts and awesome abbey ruins. Good choices for food as well, though opening times are rather random.
Lovely quirky place to stay. Very friendly welcome from Valerie, felt like staying in someone's home. Very conveniently located for exploring the lovely centre of Bergues. Good restaurant recommendation nearby.
Charming French establishment with a nice restaurant, popular with locals. Quaint old town house with stairs in different directions. In the centre of Bergues. Accepts dogs.
