Yes the hotel looks dated however, Our six rooms were all clean with fresh towels no rubbish or dust that we could see. The hotelier did not speak English neither did the staff we spoke to, this was not a major issue as it gave us a chance to use our small amount of French. Other guests we talked to helped with the translation so no big deal.
I would recommend this hotel to motorcyclists as they have secure parking in locked garage that our room overlooked. We stayed Saturday night, noise was not an issue almost no road traffic. Food in the restaurant was good, we had a small choice but no complaints. breakfast was the usual continental only one thing we encountered was no cold milk for the cornflakes.
We will be back.
The ibis budget Bar le Duc welcomes you only 3 kilometres from the historic city centre of Bar le Duc. Verdun is 55 km away.

There was a good choice of breakfasts. The room was very clean and we enjoyed the view from the window. The young lady member of staff who we met in the mornings was very kind and helpful

Isabelle was a lovely welcoming hostess. The room was comfortable and the shower was great. Breakfast was included in the price and was very nice. Fresh fruit, juice, and a basket of croissants and bread with spreads and coffee. We were able to park our car across the road on the sand street for no cost. We could walk into the centre to restaurants. We enjoyed a meal and Cafe du Vin in the square and one at Sulli.

This is a charming small town in a region which begs exploration. The inventor or the bicycle came from here; markets and quality shops abound alongside the river and canal shoulder to shoulder with some really impressive historical buildings and beautifully preserved traditional houses. Bustling, yet relaxing at the same time.
Good food is available in a whole range of restaurants and less formal eateries and, of course the Champagne region is right 'next door'.

Another note for our stay at Ibis, Bar le Duc.
Another note for our stay at Ibis, Bar le Duc. We were so appreciative that each time a guest walked into the breakfast room the concierge supplied freshly warmed croissants. It was a very nice touch.

The old town up the hill is very nice.
The old town up the hill is very nice.
The Italian across the road from Studio Martelot was really good for take-aways and the staff were friendly.
Rue Martelot is very central and ideal for public transport.
Don't be fooled by the unpreposessing exterior: inside is a moderately priced but convenient and friendly hotel. We were pleased with our room (112) and the Matisse poster on the wall. The room was simply furnished, but we had everything needful, and the bathroom was above expectations.
Dinner, though, was absolutely excellent, and way better than one might expect from the rather dowdy outside of the place.
It was an old type family hotel. The people were good , helpfull and nice. I love this type of hotel. A family run enterprise, where the people really care and don't just pretend to care. I loved it !
We were very pleasantly surprised with the level of comfort and the facilities offered. Breakfast was lovely and the hotel was located a short walk from the centre of the town.
