IT was a lovely hotel with a really excellent breakfast, varied, plentiful, covering all tastes. We arrived on the night the kitchen was closed but were offered by the reception a very acceptable meal at 19.00 which meant we did not have to drive out to find a restaurant, which after a long day's cycle ride, we appeciated very much.

Avallon is an attractive market town in northern Burgundy. It is immersed in beautiful countryside, and is of a manageable size for walking around, sampling the shops, cafes, and restaurants, and enjoying the Burgundian architecture. It is quiet in May. It can be a nice base for a few days to adventure to nearby sites such as Vezelay and the Bazoche chateau.

Very friendly staff which perhaps comes with a family run hotel. Nothing was too much trouble; everything done with a smile. I would readily stay there again if travelling that way.
Location for visiting with dog is awesome, its right on the river. Once you walk 200 meters from the hotel away, there is a bridge you can cross and be in the forest with the dog.
