We know the area and were primarily there to visit a friend. We were on a budget so had to use public transport, which turned out to be super easy to use. You can pay with cash or bank card directly on the bus (you can only buy one ticket with a bank card, however) or you can buy a loaded card with ten tickets (which you can use for more than one person) at machines at train stations, principal stops and tobacconists. Timetables are given at bus stops and are accurate. Make sure you know when the public holidays are, as these affect public transport considerably. The bus journey to Biarritz station is less than half an hour (depending on the route they take) and from there you can travel quickly and inexpensively to St Jean de Luz, Bayonne and elsewhere. The three towns I have mentioned are so close by, yet so contrasting and are all worth a visit. The number 36 bus (a little further away from the apartment - maybe 8-10 mins walk) give you access to beaches up the coast, like La Madrague. I used Google Maps a lot and found its advise re: public transport super helpful. On our last night, we ate at Casa Juan Pedro, http://casajuanpedro.com/en/home, in Biarrtiz's old port. They were welcoming, and the food was delicious and simply presented (our party includes seafood enthusiasts and picky eaters).

Angler almost surrounds it more famous neighbour Biarritz, and there are reasonable bus services - at least during the day and early evening - between the two towns. There are sandy beaches, woodland, and the attractions and bars of Biarritz nearby. On the whole, a pleasant place to visit in Summer, and I am told pleasantly mild in Winter too !

You need to have a car if you stay at this hotel. There are three hotels in the same property, so if you go to the last one in the compound, there is a restaurant. No dinner available at the IBIS aeroport.
