Karjalan Helmi is a wonderful and peaceful family business that rents out several cottages of various sizes. The owner is very friendly and supportive. The cottage I stayed in was clean and had all amenities I could think of (even a dishwasher and an ironing board). I highly enjoyed the fireplace and sauna.

We had the 2 bedroom villa no 7 with sauna that is located right in front of the lake and the view was amazing! The villa is brand new, has 2 toilets, shower, sauna and kitchen. It was amazing to drink our coffee in the morning and have a view of the lake straight from the living room or terrace. We were also suprised that during our stay in Midsummer there weren't too many mosquitos near the cottage. There is also a fireplace inside the cottage, so I imagine it's great to light it up and cook some sausages when it's a bit colder.

Super friendly staff, very confortable place with appliances. The place is a little bit off downtown but Kitee is a small charming town that everything is close by, so is not a big deal.

The place is a family owned, Kirsi was a wonderful host, she helped us on many occasions during our stay. You may find this place right for you if you want to live in the forest, far away from the noise and big cities. Especially if you like fishing. We came specifically for fishing and were satisfied with results! There is a small city nearby, where you can buy groceries. At one point my father got a fishing hook stuck in his finger, really bad. Kirsi told us the name of the hospital in the city nearby, we went there and a doctor removed the hook, real fun (200 euro).
