The whole town is in the middle of nowhere, even by Finnish standards. But then again, this is probably the appeal :) There is a train stop though on the Helsinki-Kuopio-Oulu line for Paltamo, which is about a 10 minute walk prom the property. There are big stores and a petrol station too nearby, and of course the river and the lake, which are beautiful. You can swim too, if you want.
The property is a large and fairly luxurious private home by appearance, divided into some private bedrooms and generously large common areas, like kitchen and bathroom. All very clean at the time of my visit.

A decent camping site and nice camping houses some kilometers away up the hills. There were nice views near the camping houses. The houses themselves gave rather aged feeling, but nothing terrible - reminded me the feeling at grandma's summer house.
