Ok, you cannot fault the view from our bedroom window (Sancho III) however, I get that the property is older but, the main door into the room we had to push really hard to shut, which was very loud. The door to the bathroom did not shut on its own. We had to physically push against it to keep it shut. The layout of the bathroom requires a complete refurb. The sink was so big, sticking out into the room. The toilet was positioned in such a way that our knees were nearly touching the bath. Really not what I expected for the price we paid. Everything was so old and out of date. God knows how old the hairdryer was! The shower was ok but the water went everywhere over the bath we had to stand in. Get rid of the bath & get a decent shower cubicle! It was clean and the bed was comfy, however the noise of the neighbours next door (probably not their fault, just the fault of an old building) was not what I wanted. The hotel has a restaurant just over the road but it was temporarily closed. Unfortunately I would never stay here again and would call it a hostel rather than a hotel. I would say it was more for walkers on the Camino trail and not people that want a bit more peace and quiet from their nights stay.

I don't like leaving bad reviews - running a hotel can't be easy - so I always try to appreciate the good things and find ways around any problems. Sadly, and I've never found this before, there were no good things. I suspect financial corners have been cut everywhere here, especially in the staffing levels. When we arrived the reception desk was empty. After a long wait the barman went in the back to get someone who came out clearly very irritated, and extremely unhelpful. The room was very tired, and the bed lumpy and uncomfortable. In the morning the water was only lukewarm, but it was the morning rush hour so I decided to shower after breakfast. Other than one lady taking room numbers, who disappeared as soon as she got them , the breakfast room was unstaffed. All food was totally cold - fried and scrambled eggs, bacon etc - not just cooled down a bit, but completely cold ( and this was half way through the breakfast period). Spanish guests were as surprised as we were, and tried loading plates of cold food under the toast grill. The coffee machine was delivering hot water instead of coffee. Back in our room I tried the water, and it was even colder than before ( and yes I did let it run), so no shower. Every other hotel on our three week trip was really enjoyable, so my advice is that there are probably better hotels in Burgos.
