What a find! Stayed in Herrera del Duque a few times before but just for an overnight stay when passing thro’ so never ventured this far back into the town and hadn’t realised what a gem of a town it is - Laplaza23 is a peach of a place in a beautiful quiet secluded square - and once inside the interior is just fabulous! Beautifully and sympathetically renovated to a very high standard, spacious and cool, so so nice.
The room itself was simple but had everything you would expect, crisp sheets, spotlessly clean, well appointed bathroom etc - and the cherry on the cake was the breakfast room accessed via small courtyard at the back - what must have been a store of some kind in the past with a vaulted brick ceiling renovated to a similar standard to the remainder of the establishment - and the breakfast itself was great - varied and generous, cold, or eggs cooked to your choice on request- lovely! As was the lady who looked after us during our stay!
The N502 passing thro’ Herrera is a fabulous motorcycling road and there’s much more to this town than you would expect - definitely worth a stopover and the surroundings are worthy of an explore tied in to a longer stay.
