The room was furnished with beautiful antiques and exotic furniture. The bathroom was huge and well equipped. Appreciated the coffee maker too - something that we did not encounter in many hotels in Spain.

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful hotel. All of the staff were very welcoming. The facilities were luxurious and extremely comfortable. From the moment we entered our fantastic room with treats, through the usage of the pool and (outdoor and in room!) Jacuzzi, the wonderful meal through the free usage of electric bikes until our departure treat we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay.

If you are a Medieval history fan, you will love this place, Exceptionally well-maintained historic city with surprisingly wide, stone streets. As the streets are paved with roundish stones, wear good shoes...flat-bottomed sport or dress shoes can be treacherous especially if street is wet. We visited during off-season (late-November) so many of the restaurants were closed at the time so plan accordingly. We did find one that was open and enjoyed authentic northern-Spain fare. Prices for everything, food, drink, entry fees, small souvenir items, etc were very reasonable

Santillana del Mar is a beautiful, historic town close to Santander. A really nice place to stay. We were catching the ferry from Santander and just wanted someone near to spend the night before the ferry. It is well worth a longer visit as a base to explore the surrounding countryside.

A tiny, heavily touristy town. Worth maybe a flying visit of an hour max if you are travelling passed. Not worth travelling to or staying at. Some nice old buildings. Not enough restaurants to cater to the amount of tourists

A pretty town, famous for being one, and for the Altamira cave. Altamira is primarily a museum now as the cave is off limits; at the museum you can tour a reproduction. Nevertheless it’s an important site and the town, though very touristy, makes a good base for exploring the Cantabrian coast west of Santander.

This is a beautiful little medieval town with cobbled...
This is a beautiful little medieval town with cobbled streets and impressive ancient buildings. A central feature is the large cathedral of Colegiata of St. Juliana, where you can visit the cloisters or attend Catholic mass. It stands in a square which is bordered by an art museum (Jesus Otero). A few cobbled streets run off the square, with plenty of restaurants and hotels to choose from. They are proud of their cheese and other local produce, so there are several shops dedicated to this. The Conventa Clarisas (convent of the poor Clares) is also very charming and is famous for its pastries for sale. We stayed in the beautiful Hotel Casa del Marques, whose staff were very friendly and welcoming, in a well-appointed and spacious room with large comfortable bed, seating areas and ensuite, all in keeping with the charming classic style of the hotel. We also spent a night at the Hotel los Infantes, which is impressively grand. It is easy to access this small town on foot, but it is possible to drive through the cobbled streets and there is a public car park which is free. The town is not actually on the coast, but is 10 minutes' drive from pretty local beaches.

Beautifully looked after Posada giving us a pleasant 20 minute walk down a quiet lane into Santillana del Mar.
We stayed last year, before catching Brittany Ferries to the UK, and will stay again. Reasonably priced, smiling helpful lady who runs the Posada and parking is easy at the property.
I recommended this accommodation to my sister, her husband and friends who also stayed and were very happy with my choice.
Great location close to the centre of the beautiful village of Santillana del Mar.

The hotel was in an excellent position right in the main street. Very comfortable down stairs with several rooms with comfortable chairs and small tables for drinks. Breakfast was very good with a large selection to choose from
