Very easy to get into the city centre on the bus from the airport and from there it is very walkable. Plenty of wine and tapas bars on every street in the city our favourites being Casa Lita which have plates for around 6 euros per plate of very high quality food, and Beher for their premium Iberico Ham.
Most places serve very good quality wines for around 2.50 euros and often served with a small snack.
The beaches are clean and quite and the walk around Palace de Magdelina is fantastic and well worth the visit.
A brilliant city to spend a long weekend and with very affordable flights we will be returning for years to come.

A surprise.
A surprise. Good beaches - if the weather holds - good range of shops, bars & restaurants.
Prices seem a little high in comparison with other places in Spain.
Bars & restaurants seem to offer few options for people with allergies, gluten for example.

1. Small but friendly city. 2. Nice views of the water from the park surrounding the royal palace. 3. But very limited access to the interior of the palace. You had to stand in line to get a place on a guided tour, and then only the first few in line were taken.

The amazing coastal walk to the lighthouse with its breathtaking views is a must if you visit Santander.
The Jardínes de Piquió is very pretty and is worth a visit, along with the Palacio de Magdalena. A 2-day stay is sufficient to discover the area. If you have another day, a day trip to Santillana and Comillas is worth it.

Santander surprised us!
Santander surprised us! Plenty of stuff to see and do and some nice beaches . Bus right outside of airport into town centre .
Plenty of restaurants but not much English spoken but that’s ok as we were in Spain!
Went food market one day and had Tortilla and some drinks.
Where we stayed was in a very steep area but one of the roads leading up to it had moving stairs which helped. Some beautiful buildings .
It is a lovely place so go and find out yourself

Centre is compact and easily walkable, with boat trips from the promenade. There is a bus tour that helps you orient yourself, and three large beaches, plus churches, a martime museum, an art gallery and some traditional restaurants. A decent venue for a short break.

We have stayed in Hotel Bahia whenever we go to Santander. it’s ideally located near the centre and all the lively bars and restaurants. ALS handy for the port. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and spotless. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially when it came to printing out our test results and passenger locator forms. on sight parking is pricey but so is everywhere else. Nice tapas bars just around the corner.
This is a grand hotel on the sea front in a spectacular location in Santander. The staff were helpful, our room was of a good size with a balcony and an excellent sea view. We also had underground parking for our car. Reception staff had great recommendations for food and nearby cafes. The sandy beach was a short walk away with good swimming.
The silence in the hotel and rooms. The breakfast room organised very well.
The position of the hotel right next to the Sandinero beach, plus plenty of good places to eat, the hotel restaurant was particularly good.
Excellent bus service into central Santander
The hotel was conveniently located near the ferry port with parking available for a couple of motorcycles. The staff were exceptional and the room was clean and modern and was ideal for an overnight stay or a bit longer if you were exploring Santander.
A great location with parking, just a short walk from the beach. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was modern and very clean. Highly recommend.
