This is a fascinating building in the heart of an agricultural community and has been restored to a very high standard by a welcoming couple. The emphasis here is on simple, home grown, home made food. There is fresh fruit for breakfast and our modest evening meals were tortilla, padron peppers, goats cheese salad, tomatoes etc. The is no menu. David just made a suggestion and we nodded!
Located 6 km from Las Médulas Roman Mines, 5 km from Lake Carucedo and 17 km from Ponferrada Castle, Casa Rural Borrenes las Médulas provides accommodation set in Borrenes.

We had a pleasant one night stay. The room was large and comfortable, and the access to the kitchen area was a great amenity. We missed breakfast, so can't speak to what it was like but everything else was as expected.

If you want to see the Las Médulas World Heritage site, the Mirador of Orellán is the best place to start your visit, because from there you get a great view of the whole area, and it's a good starting point for hiking.
The best food in Orellán is at the O Palleiro Do Pe do Forno rural hotel, make sure you reserve a table for dinner.
