Loved the room and the breakfast. The hosts were all so friendly and helpful. Everything was totally spotless. Sara De Ur was a perfect stop for us after an evening flight into Madrid. An easy 30 minute drive north of the city on our way to San Sebastian.

It has amazing views and it can be a quiet place!
I say "it can be" because a car parked in the street that runs alongside the house and they stayed chatting with very loud music until late at night. It's good to know it's not an isolated castle.

The accommodation was close to the motorway, but very quiet. It was easy to find. We travel with three dogs so the outside space and large internal space are essential. We took our own dinner and breakfast but next time would like to explore the area to see if there are any bars.
Our host was friendly and welcoming. The pool was a bonus and refreshing after a long hot journey.

The town is a small village along the highway. There are several cafe's and restaurants, check on the internet for opening hours. We normally eat near our hostal. We also take a little walk up and down the main street. Not that much going on, but perfect, if you are on the move, and you just need one overnight stay, before you move on.

Coming south through Spain, an ideal location to spend a night north of Madrid, around 350 kms from Santander.
'what's simple works best' is how I would helpfully describe this hotel. Good rooms, beds, bathroom, locals were curious and friendly, menu del dia was OK, so were snacks. Parking........tight......watch out for the support posts.
Good to be fresh for tackling the ring road next morning. Would use this hotel again.

A beautiful small town at the base of the mountains.
A beautiful small town at the base of the mountains. Lovely area in Centre with bars and little shops used by locals which gives a great atmosphere. A few good restaurants within walking distance of where we stayed. Good stop off place between North coast ferries and Southern Spain. We toured into the mountains to the West and discovered some lovely friendly villages. Beatifyl views too.

It could have really done with an electric or cooker kettle...
It could have really done with an electric or cooker kettle , stayed before and this time took a travel kettle, really needs one as tea or coffee is a must for most people, microwave hot water is a bit of a pain.
Small pick, but otherwise an excellent place to stay.

The decor in the hotel is wonderful. Full marks to whoever designed it! Also, each room has an excellent small fridge with an ice box, and a corkscrew was provided!
It was lovely to lie on the sunloungers in the garden area and then take a dip in the pool. La Cabrera isn't a particularly interesting village but it's a only a short walk down the road if you need to stretch your legs or get supplies from the Eroski supermarket.
Excellent location for onward connection. The food menu was extensive with a choice of restaurant or bar facilities.
and the draft beer was cold. But most of all the staff were the most helpful and pleasant that I had encountered on my journey.
In particular they helped solve a travel problem I could not have sorted without them.
I will remember the Hotel Mavi with great affection.
Easy to get to off motorway. You have the whole apartment. Clean large rooms but could do with some home comforts to make it cosier eg. pictures on the wall, colour, modernisation. Lovely gentleman met us. Parking underneath building. Had an excellent traditional Spanish meal at the Mavi Hotel which is about a 20 minute walk.
The area is well know to us and a great stopping point the staff were extremely helpful and friendly
We will be staying there again and will recommend the hotel to friends and family
