On top of the Santa Catalina hill, this 18th-century castle has been beautifully renovated keeping its huge stone walls and many historical features to make for an authentic stay in Jaén.

The stay at the parador was unique. Felt a little like being a castle, but very comfortable. The hotel was excellent, the restaurant as good. Some of the food was served like warm.

The Hotel is perfectly situated, I had an accessible room as I am disabled, this again was good except for the fridge which is inside a cupboard and the door opens in the opposite direction to the fridge door making it impossible to get inside the fridge. The lifts worked well and accommodated my small mobility scooter. The pool only has a ladder access no steps, but there is a chair lift and this was excellent, though if your small to get back onto the seat when it’s submerged needs some assistance. The lifeguards were ace. We paid for the parking and as I downloaded the Best Hotel card for free I only paid €3.5 a nigh, very good value.

A really comfortable and clean duplex apartment in the centre of Jaén. Outdoor seating on the terrace was lovely and the plunge pool would be a bonus on a hot day.

You need to be fit and active to get about the hilly setting of the city.
Obviously traffic is heavy but a good portion of the streets are pedestrianised.
Street beggars and graffiti are common place as in most cities.
History, religion, olive oil and panoramic views are plentiful.
Spanish language skills need to good.

Interesting part of Andalucía often overlooked.
Interesting part of Andalucía often overlooked. It has a cathedral and Arab bath ruins. The town is hilly. There is a castle on a nearby hill, but you will need a taxi to go there. One thing about Jaen that you do not find elsewhere in Andalucía is that impatient drivers lay on their horns. Jaen is very hilly so take your time and rest as needed. The sites and architecture at the top of the city is amazing.

Jaen is worth a visit, a beautiful view from the castle, a cosy old town, good food and friendly people!
The castle has an interesting history, and the Cathedral is a must while exploring the old town! Do not forget to taste the local food - it opens new experiences to you!!
And if you enjoy shopping -all that you need you can find both in a huge mall Ingles and in small cosy local shops! The olive oil is sure the best in Jaen as it is all surrounded by huge fields of olive trees!

The room was terribly hot, a true nightnare, I didn’t sleep at all. The 2 rooms were sold with airco, but they weren’t working. In the morning the reception staff couldn’t care less that I hadn’t slept at all. I felt terrible, nobody was sorry, apologized or could understand the fact that I complained about having bought a room with airco to find that they didn’t put it on.
I have never seen such a bad attutide of reception staff.
I will never go back.

Jaen is a very classy town and at the same time with a young heart.
The views to the mountains that surround the town , the cathedral, the arab baths, the history museum and ,not the last, the many Michelin restaurants are enough reasons to plan a visit.
Room was good size decor dated but in keeping with the hotel theme all very clean and well kept.
Good location for bus €1 or taxi €5 into centre although walkable in around 15 minutes up a long busy gradient for active people.
This hotel is conveniently located in the shopping district. May restaurants are a short walk. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The stay at the parador was unique. Felt a little like being a castle, but very comfortable. The hotel was excellent, the restaurant as good. Some of the food was served like warm.
