We received a very warm reception from Felix who did more than expected to help us with our bags and advice on parking etc. It is a very long time since we received such a warm welcome. We was a complete gentleman.

Haro is the historical heart of La Rioja; it is the capital of the region though it is substantially smaller than Logrono, another popular stop in Rioja. If you love wine and/or the outdoors, there are ample opportunities for both. There is a concentration of excellent wineries where you can show up to taste or reserve a tour to see the bodega (what wineries are called in Rioja). There are beautiful mountains near town and trails start in town for either hiking or mountain biking. The old part of Haro is small and packed with some very good restaurants for pintxos (tapas) or a full dinner. The town is very walkable. There is frequent bus service from Bilbao or Logrono.
Roots, a wine and tapas bar, has a small but lovely selection of tapas and an excellent wine list. The staff is very knowledgeable about not only Rioja wines but wines from around the world. Though the list is predominately Spanish, they have wines from other regions, both in and outside of Spain.
Haro is small charming wine heavyweight that presents the best that Rioja has to offer: beautiful wine, great food, and scenery.

Haro is in the center of Rioja wine country.
Haro is in the center of Rioja wine country. Very beautiful area. We had a car so did some wine tours on our own which were fantastic. Did a tour through a 16th century wine cave and had a great tasting afterward.

Whilst a number of the wine producers of the Rioja region have their bodegas in one area of Haro, the actual town is quite run down. It was ok as a stop off on the way to the ferry in Bilbao an hour away. The house wine offered in the bars was also very good!

The centre of Haro is full of character and is generally buzzing with people at the cafes and bars in the evening. We were in Haro to visit vineyards and to have wine tastings, which are placed on the outskirts of the town. We visited a restaurant, "Beethoven", for the reknowned lamb, which was delicious. Haro is small enough to be able to see the whole town on foot and makes for an interesting trip.

One of my favorite town in Spain!
One of my favorite town in Spain! Amazing scenery, great trekking routes around the wineries, wonderful wines, what else? It's a perfect base to explore the wine making country and worth visiting in four seasons :)

Good location in Haro and bike friendly; we were able to stow bikes in a storage area so we didn't have to worry about them. Hotel bar and restaurant were nice; bar / restaurant has a nice terrace which is great for sunny days!
Everything. The apartment is perfect for visiting Haro and the Rioja region. Our host was extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the skylight looked on the the church tower opposite…..gorgeous.
Clean, centric but not in the main square, quite. Haro is small enough to walk it around. Fairly cheap parking to pay while shops open. Dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer and small cooker. WiFi and TV.
Spacious room, friendly staff, perfect location just in the main square in Haro. Parking garage is located 3 minutes walking distance away. Reserve in advance and the hotel will send you the instructions.
