A splash of colour and history in the heart of Catalonia
The colourful and charming gem that is Girona is set on the banks of where the rivers Ter, Onyar, Galligants and Güell meet. Girona is protected by fortifications and features a remarkable medieval centre along with several fine Romanesque and Gothic buildings.
The province houses the ancient Arab Baths, the Girona Cathedral, and the lovely Girona Art Museum. Due its mountainous terrain Girona is also a popular destination for cycling enthusiasts, whilst theatre lovers can enjoy a performance at the Auditorium Jardins del Castell.
Girona has a lively nightlife and offers a wide variety of bars, restaurants and cafés serving anything from local Basque and Catalan delicacies to traditional tapas and an array of international cuisines.
Other popular landmarks to see are the 14th-century Sant Feliu, the historical fortifications, the 11th-century Monastery of San Daniel, and the characteristic Girona Bridge.
Girona Train station offers direct links to bustling Barcelona and the picturesque province of Portbou. Booking.com offers a wide range of accommodation options and deals in Girona and around Catalonia.
We stayed three nights here and then one night in Cadeques.
We stayed three nights here and then one night in Cadeques. As much as I loved Girona, in hindsight I would have spent two nights here and then two in Cadeques. We enjoy sightseeing and meandering the streets of old towns, so for us, two full days were plentiful to see Girona. It is a very pretty and walkable city. I especially loved the views of the old houses on the river from the bridges. We went during the off season and on a Saturday there was a noticeable increase in crowds. If coming during the peak season, I would definitely recommend visiting on a weekday.

It was a very good experience to stay within the medieval city so rich in history. Girona is very beautiful; it isn't at the same conservation level as Barcelona, but it is still special and fascinating.

The red bridge has been constructed by Eiffel itself. Cosy beautiful city with colored houses. Amazing view over the town from different parts of the medieval walls. Once you there, go visit Salvador Dali Museum in Figueres, book your tickets in advance. Cadaqués is very recommended to walk through too

Lots of history. Loved to visit the Cathedral!
Lots of history. Loved to visit the Cathedral! Found if impressive. We could not visit the Basilica though. We walked the murallas and spent sometime to read about it on line. The visitor's center is of a big help. Don't be afraid to ask, they like to give hints about everything. Don't miss the Jewish quarter, the museum the old streets. There is much more to see.

Visited the Cathedral at Girona and Basilica of St Felix and saw the Creation Tapestry. Don't miss. Enjoyed more than Monserrat. Great city to wander the pedestrian streets of old town or walk the walls. Took bus direct from airport though train is faster with a change. Recommended side trip from Barcelona if you have a day to spare.

The hotel location was very convenient -- easy walking distance from the train station, and well-situated in the old town. The room was clean and freshly made up every day. I appreciated the lounge area on the first floor -- it was convenient to bring back a frozen meal and be able to heat it up and eat it with salad using the dishes and microwave provided in the lounge! I didn't use the lockers for luggage storage, but if I had needed to, it looked very easy and convenient to do so.
Recently refurbished apartment. Everything is in good condition.
Spacious living area. We had 5 bikes with no space issues
Top location right in the old town next to restaurants, etc
Office is 50 m away and staff were very helpful for checkin, bag storage, ordering taxi to airport etc
Has a washing machine which was great for cycling kit
There is a lift which is essential as flat is on 4th floor and stairs are narrow
Friendly reception staff, impressively multi-lingual. Very close to the station and a short walk to the old town. No breakfast but many cafes nearby. Hotel was clean and comfortable but basic - e.g. No reading light or bedside lamp . It was a very quiet internal room
Beautiful room, clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a great location full of shops, half way the train station and the old town. There are 2 restaurants and a cafeteria in the hotel.
