Cala en Blanes, purely Mediterranean

Cala en Blanes represents some of the typical characteristics of Minorca, marked by beautiful natural landscapes and a tranquil atmosphere. This rocky inlet surrounded by trees and white-washed villas tempts you with its relaxed feel and offers you a perfect setting to mix with families and locals. The modern developments preserve a typical Mediterranean style and offer you a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy a relaxing holiday, just 5 km west from Ciutadella.

Nice spot. It's the most western location in Menorca.

Nice spot. It's the most western location in Menorca. One can see the big sister Mallorca and a great sunset, too. It has a few of these exceptionally beautiful little canyons (e.g. Cala en Forcat) where one can swim and sunbath. There is a little strip with restaurants, nightlife, supermarkets, etc. It's not a party location but I went once out on the weekend and there where a bunch of people in party mode. Enough to have a bit of a buzz if you're okay to connect to strangers. The next big city, Ciutadella de Menorca, is just a 5 minutes drive away. The old town and centre is very charming and offers plenty of space to wander around and to dine in quality and locally. The old town vibe manages to remain untouched and the tourists that are around don't stand out too much really. It's a chilled place with authentic people that live their lives there, but they have a few late night clubs where one can party hard all night. There was plenty of free parking right next to the harbor in the old town when I was there in October. I think that a taxi from Cala en Balnes to Ciutadella de Menorca should be very affordable. Generally, Menorca is a very safe and beautiful place where people are still people. Some drivers are too relaxed, though, haha. One needs to adapt to a chilled driving style ;->

Cala en Blanes resort appeared run down in places and some of the restaurant menus appeared much the same ie pizza, burgers and everything with chips. We had lovely meals at L’Ancora, Mr Beps and Bar Restaurant Park. We found the location good place for visiting the south coast of the island, there is a bus stop outside the apartments which takes you into ciutadella every 30 mins and from here you can get a bus to other resort area. For the more active you can walk into ciutadella along the coast road ( takes about 50-60 mins. We hired a car and visited Cala n Bosch and Cala Galdana which both had lovely sandy beaches

Small town with many restaurants and bars, close to a number of beaches, including Cala en Brut, which is famous for the jumping/diving platforms. Short drive or bus ride to Ciutadella de Menorca which has more choice of restaurants, bars and shops.

What an excellent little gem of a place to stay.

What an excellent little gem of a place to stay. This town has all you need for a perfect sun holiday. There is a fun little town with lots of restaurants and bars. It was lively but not raucous. The coves and beaches are great! Cala en Brut is a little bay with platforms cut out of the rock surrounding pristine, clear blue waters. It is incredibly fun to hang out here swimming and jumping off the platforms into the water. Other little beaches are Cala en forcat and Cala en blanes (sandy beach) The town of Cuitadella is a short bus (20 mins on the 61 bus) or a longer walk - maybe just less than an hour, but there is a great coastal walk that goes the whole way in. Cala en blanes would be a fun place to explore other parts of the island (although we stayed a bit more local) There is a water park in the town but it’s just for kids and doesn’t have great reviews. There are plenty of restaurants - we ate in Ca n’emilio and Restauant L’Ancora which were both great, chilled, fun and very affordable restaurants

    I loved Cala en Blanes.

I loved Cala en Blanes. Our apartment was great and it wasn't too noisy. The area was busyish but not packed and not lots of night life. Lovely beach so if you want a fairly quiet beach holiday with restaurants and supermarkets withing easy reach it was perfect

The resort is good for families with younger children.

The resort is good for families with younger children. Almost every bar and restaurant has bouncy castles, trampoline's and go karts so that parents needn't worry about keeping the kids happy. The water park is entertaining and the locals are polite and friendly.

In principle, the stay had potential, especially because the price-performance ratio was basically right. The location is good, especially if you are traveling without a car. You can find everything you need within walking distance: a well-stocked supermarket, bike rental, pharmacy, beaches, aquapark, and restaurants. There is a nice pool area, and our room was functionally furnished and not too small for four people due to its good, although the furnishings were getting on in years. The staff was quite nice and helpful.

The location is absolutely perfect! Literally only a few steps away from the beach. Also, the spaciousness of the bungalow is above average despite the somewhat old furniture. Last but not least, the hosts are super friendly, helpful and responsive!

The complex is very good located, in a beach area and close to Ciudadela. The whole hotel staff is incredible, in special the bar leader who makes the stance nicer.
