I wanted to skip the crowds at Ronceville and it was an easy, flat walk onto Burguete. This also gave me a more relaxed start in the morning, since I was ahead of the mass start. It had a well equipped kitchen, which my bunk roommates put to good use for dinner.

After a very long day on the Camino I fell after a losing my footing close to the property. Injured and limping into reception, they went above and beyond to make sure I was okay. I was late to arrive and they also made sure I had time to clean up before coming down to enjoy a lovely meal with others also walking on the Camino. Starting the Camino late in the season I truly appreciated the generous spirit of the reception staff. They are working very hard as a small staff to make sure the guests need are taken care of.

If you are doing El Camino and have the energy for the extra 1.6 miles (2.6kms) on flat terrain, I'd recommend the longer stride to Burguete, since it offers a few more amenities than Roncesvalles. Buen Camino
