Le Meridien Cairo Airport, hotel in Cairo

Linked to Cairo Airport Terminal 3 via a pedestrian bridge, Le Meridien Cairo Airport features a heated outdoor pool and a fitness center. Free Wi-Fi access is available.

My father and I stayed here, and we loved that the hotel is attached to Terminal 3, which handles domestic flights, making our return from Luxor super easy with just a short walk through the airport to the hotel. The Mezzeh restaurant was excellent—we had the grilled prawns and fish, and everything was delicious. To top it off, the staff surprised me with a rose at the end of our meal. We also enjoyed the little café near the lobby, where we got some Arabic sweets and chocolates that were a nice touch. The front door men were very helpful and kind, ensuring that my Uber picked me up at the right place. The grounds of the property were beautiful, adding to the overall pleasant experience. The only thing I’d mention is that this location is a bit far if you’re planning to do tours to the Giza Pyramids and other popular sites. Many of the tour companies on Viator charge extra for pick-up from the airport area, so that’s something to keep in mind. Overall, this was a great place for our short 2-night stay before we checked out early the second night to catch our 2AM flight back home. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again, very convenient.

FAQs about hotels in Cairo

Resting Place of Pharaohs

Born of an ancient civilization, Cairo is a vast metropolis centered around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.

The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including finds from Tutankhamen's tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.

East is Islamic Cairo, home to the 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk (remember to haggle). The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.

If you need a break from cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.

Before heading to your Cairo accommodations, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

I stayed five days as a female solo traveler.

I stayed five days as a female solo traveler. I especially enjoyed The Egyptian Museum of Civilization (for improving my visual and spacious perception of the development and extent of Egyptian history and culture, plus the mummies of course), the market Khan el-Khalil (for local evening atmosphere and traditional dance and music) and my many Uber scooter rides between these and many other attractions, which gave me a good sense of many aspects of the city, which I deeply appreciate.

Cairo is a busy, bustling city with lots to see. The people who approach you to take you for sightseeing are all trying to fleece you. Don't trust them, or even uber drivers. Other than that, it's a city worth experiencing. Traffic can get heavy but that's part of the experience.

Cairo is overcrowded, loud, and chaotic but rich in history, culture and graciousness if you know where to look. As a first time tourist, you will want to ensure you stay in the best possible hotel property possible as a break from the outside environment. There is plenty to see and do and especially taste. Explore the winding streets of the Zamalek neighborhood for shops, cafes and galleries. Most other neighborhoods should probably be avoided. Rely on your hotel concierge for guidance. Be sure to visit the museums and other historical sites.

First of all, people keep in mind all those reviews all those scams all those negative hype is just online, believe me or not i haven't faced anything bad or negative there, people were soooooo friendly and i suggest you to avoid people just live in your own aura and you will be good anywhere in the world, the food is just awesome and cheap, just get Uber and go here and there across city, specially local areas so you can feel authentic vibe. The trip was perfect and i recommend whole world to visit there once atleast, nothing fancy just go for peace of mind and you would definitely get there

Cairo is a busy bustling metropolis with constant traffic, far from being a restful place,on the contrary,it can be exhausting. But don`t let it get the better of you.We found that using Uber to get around, rather than walk even to nearby sights was preferable and saved us the stress of having to cross streets in totally unregulated traffic. As it was our first time in Cairo,of course we visited the pyramids on the Giza plateau, the step pyramid in Sakkara and Memphis with a private guided tour. Do book a guided tour and include the latter two sites as well, they are less crowded and historically very important.

Cairo is like most cities, busy with high volumes of traffic...

Cairo is like most cities, busy with high volumes of traffic and exponential population growths. It’s the historic heritage, culture, mixed use natural features (Nile river and desert) which make it solely different. Do your research and pay for activities prior getting to venues. My experience in Giza was ruined! Also people demand very high tips for everything and treatment changes if it doesn’t meet the expectations.

The location was good. The hotel is located in the downtown area of Giza, where you can see the new Egyptian Museum from the roof, as well as the pyramids and Mount Giza, next to all local and international restaurants. There was also a pharmacy and a supermarket a few steps away from the hotel gate. I advise you to arrange this with the hotel management because they have sufficient experience in this matter. I do not advise arranging it online. They have the best.
