The outstanding staff in particular Manar at guest relations who genuinely cared about my wellbeing and gave me great advice. I have stayed at other five stars on this holiday but they don’t measure up to this hotel which has warm and genuine staff who truly care that you enjoy your stay. The hotel is right beside the pyramids and the museum. I would really to take an uber the road is to dangerous to walk. I would highly recommend this hotel to any female solo traveller in Cairo it’s a big city !

If you're looking for an atmospheric, old-fashioned hotel in downtown Cairo this is it. It seems as if little has changed since it opened in the 1940s. Breakfast room, smokers' lounge, hallway and reception are refreshingly 'dated'. Sometimes it seems as if Agatha Christie's Miss Marple could walk in any minute. The staff are friendly and helpful with questions and organising trips to the pyramids etc. But the greatest advantage of "Pensione Roma" is its atmosphere which appeals to people who like to travel back in time not just in the museum but also in the choice of their accommodation. It's noisy but that's to be expected in the middle of a very exciting and lively city.
