Property was a bit run down. Pull and spa were closed. No staff available when we arrived. Had to wait for a staff member to arrive in order to get access to the room. Breakfast was good and Staff was amicable. The suite was not worth the money I paid.

Decor is highly unusual, with paintings and sculptures everywhere, most of them done by the owner. Staff was exceptional, food was delicious, even though dinner had to be prepared and eaten by candlelight. Beds were firm, which we like, and had both a duvet and heavy, thick, hand-woven wool blankets in case the night would be cold. Enjoyed the night-time nature sounds, including potoo (frogmouth) and frog calls, as well as the early morning bird calls.

Fabian and his wife were very friendly, and with broken Spanish and English, we were able to communicate fairly well only resorting to the translator when it was important. Atuntaqui is a beautiful town with an amazing view of Cotachochi, a 5000-meter volcano. It is also centrally located to all of the towns in Ibarra Canton (A UNESCO site) I wanted to visit.
