Location was amazing. Tour options into the forest are very good. The tour guide is a local with a lot of knowledge.
The staff was friendly and helpful. Food is good, abundant and was prepared at the order. Free drinkable water is a life saver.
Considering you are at the edge of the forest, the rooms are as clean as they can be, but dont expect too much.

Absolutely loved it here, it was fairly empty when I went and had the dorm to myself, it was a beautiful wooded cabin with lots of space the room was extremely comfortable, the pillow was my favourite, super comfortable unlike any other in Ecuador, haven't slept that well! All the staff and owners were extremely friendly. The common space was very nice and cozy.

We absolutely loved our stay at Rio Napo Lodge. I guess we went out of season (November) but it was still surprising that we seemed to be the only guests. We had the use of the wonderful pool to ourselves, which was nice. But the resort deserves better. The staff went out of their way to make sure everything was how we wanted it. At the time of our visit, the bridge to Puerto Misahualli was still out but for a minimal sum (about a dollar) you could take a boat across to town, which was much more fun than driving anyway.

we are already in Ecuador for the second time and have never made it to the rainforest yet, except for a really bad one day tour we took from Banos, so we were quite excited for Misahualli. maybe too excited. the village is cute, but you have seen it in like 20 minutes. you'll see some monkeys being fed by tourists (which you should not, but they still do) and you can book trips to various things. We were not so lucky with our second rainforest tour too so we were quite dissapointed. they charged us 120 dollars for a 5 hours walk through the forest and a lunch package that contained 2 white breads with one slice of cheese and a batch of peanut butter.
I think you can have great time here if you either really seek for relaxation, hanging in hammocks, do nothing (Restaurants: we really liked the cute Mexican place with amazing quesadillas and pizza and the little Cafe Resto Papakuna!), or wanting to go on crazy trips and tours and that's super your thing. other than that one day Misahualli is perfectly enough.

Be sure to take a late afternoon/early evening ride on the Napo River to appreciate the area and afterwards sample the local dish Maito de pescado- a whole river fish grilled in banana leaves served with lemon slices, a side of tomato and red onion salad, and plantains with a glass of local guayusa tea. We paid $5 for the complete meal including an added liter of cold beer.

Puerto Misahuallí has many different things to offer: if you feel adventurous, join one of the trips to the jungle and local communities. If you feel like relaxing, you can hang out at the beach.
In any case you should try the local way of preparing chicken and fish: Maito. It is super delicious!

I actually live here and love the village of Misahuallí. I love dining at La Tasca and La Posada and walking along the path by el Rio Misahuallí to get to Runa Wasi where they serve refreshing guayusa tea in hand-crafted bowls and cups. The monkeys in the park are awesome to watch, but I wish that tourists wouldn’t feed them inappropriate foods.

Hotel is centrally located in small town of Puerto Misahualli within walking distance to restaurants and stores. Nice view on Napo river. Especially we liked a trip to Ceibo lodge (it is their second property). Ceibo lodge is more luxurious experience with excellent food and well designed program. Alberque hotel is more basic, but still is a very nice place and excellent value for money. Hotel manager Theo and all guides were super helpful.
Amazing setting in the heart of the jungle, the air, the noises and the view makes this place very unique. Great food at the restaurant (very expensive and really the only choice to have) Staff very attentive. Amazing interaction with the hotel animals (dogs, a little monkey, a coati and a parrot)
Cosy little hotel near Misahuali, with a nice restaurant, helpful staff and wonderful gardens. We also had a great guide for a day tour arranged through the hotel.
